I tried to make the proper height of the watch. The corners are obviously a little hard to do, but the height was proper.

Two concerns:

1. How on earth was this photo taken safely?
2. Why are you wearing the paper rendition of the Apple Watch out in public?

Anyway, it looks nice...

red light awaiting left turn.
All part of my efforts to choose 38mm or 42mm. Pretty sure its 42 (as seen in this picture)

Nice attempt at it, but it won't look bulky like your render as the strap doesn't angle down properly. This is also obvious from the many real-life photos available.

Very good. I used the jpg from your original post and it gave me a great perception of what this will look like on the wrist. I also thought to myself, "now, to just add the height".

I, like you, am leaning towards to 42mm.

Cool stuff.

Looks no bigger than my Pebble Steel, so I'm not worried about the 38mm version. 42mm might be pushing it on my wrist.

My concern now is the price. I would be ok spending up to $500 for the stainless with stainless link band. More than that and I will have to pass.

For sure, it won't be $500. The 38mm Sport will be $349 and depending on increments, the Sport 42mm will either be $399 or $449. I don't think it'll be just a $50 jump to the stainless, especially with Gruber's comments from yesterday.

While I believe that the 42mm Sport will cost $50 more it is pure conjecture at this point to say the 42mm will either be $50 or $100 more.

Probably more like $1000 for the Stainless Steel version.

Why do you think Stainless Steel would be as high as $1000 given it's not an expensive metal?

You are probably looking at the Sports watch, add another 5 dollars on for the material change, and a few dollars more for the glass to crystal change.

There is no reason why the Stainless version (with the same rubber strap) should be anything more than say $150 over the Aluminium version.

$349 against $499

Even that would be a BIG mark up, way way over any manufacturing price difference.

You think it will be double that?

Different material Aluminium vs Stainless Steel and the glass change you think is worthy of being $650 more expensive?

Why?

Because this is Apple and how they do it. Same as they do it with memory storages (16/32/64/128) Do you think the price difference of iPhones/iPads does reflect the exact difference of the memory storage cost? Don't think so. So yeah, I wish the person you are quoting is wrong and you are right but I don't think that will be the case. Still I don't think SS will cost £1000. Personally I think more like $500-$600

Because Apple can do whatever they want. People will even pay to own the stainless steel version because of the "weight it carries", should it be way more than the sport edition.

Because this is Apple and I don't think the Sapphire display is as cheap as some people believe. I also think that Apple will price the Stainless Steel differently as a mid level Watch. John Gruber thinks the gold edition will be $10,000 so $1,000 for the Stainlesss Steel version is not that much.

If the Sport version is $349 for the 38mm with a sport band then $1000 for a 42mm with a Stainless Steel band is again not really that expensive. I hope I'm wrong I would love for it to be cheaper but i wont be surprised if it is priced around $1,000

What will be interesting is the price difference between the Sport and the SS with sport band. Gruber seems to think the SS with sport band has to be more expensive than the most expensive possible Sport combo (i.e, Sport with SS band). Personally I think the SS with Sport band should be priced to where it makes the upsell easier. If there's too much of a price difference people will stick with the Sport version. Make the price tempting enough to upgrade and then let the bands be the splurge item. Let the bands be the "I know I shouldn't but they're so damn nice I have to have one" item.

I really need to print out a set of these so I can finally decide which size to get.

Also these price people are crazy, stop listening to gruber. There is no way the SS version with sport band is going to be the 750-1000 that gruber is talking.

That's like saying why should 128 gigs be $200 more than the base model given it's not an expensive component? This is Apple and that's how they do it.

However, I don't think it'll start at $1000 (at least the SS model with the sport band). However, the high-end SS models (with the Milanese Loop and Link Bracelet) might be around $1000.

That's what I was getting at, I also don't think it will start at $1000 but I do think with a Stainless Steel Link Bracelet or the Milanese loop band it will reach that. With a sport band maybe around $750, but prices here in the UK will be interesting considering Apple likes to add Apple tax.

How does Apple upsell someone to a SS watch with Sport band if it's $300-$400 more than its aluminum counterpart?

Because this is Apple and I don't think the Sapphire display is as cheap as some people believe.

Well, all I know is that Gorilla Glass is not very expensive at all in Phone Screens, and I believe there was an article way back around the time the talk was going on about changing to Sapphire for the phone screens, and the people making the Sapphire, saying they had got the cost down to only something like twice the price of typical phone screen glass.

Even if it's 3x the price, it's still minimal cost in dollar terms.

Perhaps 15 dollars and not 5 dollars, that type of thing.

I agree.

Whilst there will of course be an element of upselling and Luxury Talk, and they will make GREAT play on the OMG Sapphire screen, even though this is just a few dollars here, a few dollar there for Apple.

I would say, it would be hard to imagine the amount of Bull Poop they would have to come out with to make the Stainless Model Justify being over twice the price of the Aluminium model.

If that is the only difference. Metal and Glass.

Unless there were extra's thrown in the deal to sweeten it.
