I love my iPad, but if a really good Android tablet comes along I might be tempted to test the water. The lack of a user accessible file system and being reliant on a computer with iTunes are the most glaring flaws. Like it or not, a lot of people are going to approach iPad-like devices as laptop replacements and they would actually fare pretty well if not for arbitrary limitations imposed by Apple. I almost never use my MacBook Pro anymore as it is. It's really frustrating because I know how stubborn Apple is. Hopefully Google will push things in that direction and Apple will be forced to follow.
Probably one of the things they bought LaLa for and what the big datacenter is about. What if MobileMe let you sync your apps and data to/from 'the cloud'? Add music and video and you are really set. When needing to do multi-gigabyte transfers that might take too long, you could just stop in your local Apple Store. Of course then you also get to look at the nice Macs while you are there, in case you want the 'convenience' of using one at home
