i have the 3rd generation ipod with dock connector, it is 15 gb with the 4 touch buttons. It works well i have had it for 3 years now. It works fine with my windows xp at home, but havent tried it with a mac.

is there anyone else out there with the same kind as me..... i havent seen anyone.

I have the same iPod 15gig with the row of buttons.

I have it full of music and hooked up to my alpine radio in my car so I can select the songs from the radio and it charges and sits in the glove compartment.

Whenever I go on trips I take it out and use it.

I still like the row buttons more then click wheels.

I have a shuffle for just normal stuff but will get a new iPod sep 5th if it comes out.

I still use my 1st Gen 5GB iPod. Paid 550 euro for it back in 2001!
The FW socket broke down, so no more songs transfers, but I can still charge it . Batt life = still good for at least 5-6 cont play.

I also had a 4th Gen 40GB iPod, but sold that one.

So Sept 5th means a new iPod for me :D

I remember seeing some adverts a while ago, that were for replacement batteries for the 1st and 2nd gen iPod only, but were made using the newer battery technology of the day, i.e. same capacity, but thinner. This in turn led to a limited supply of high capacity batteries that claimed to provide circa 20 hours of playback on a 1st or 2nd generation iPod. I don't know if there still available or even who was supplying them, but it's interesting to know that old doesn't necessarily mean inferior.

Still using my G2 10Gb iPod.

Everything works as well as it ever did. Battery still 10+ hours.

Cost me £320 new... Ah, those were the days!

I still use and love my G3 with 40 GB. I also prefer the rows of buttons and the if background lights are on..it glowing so sexy with blue screen and red buttons!

Only the battery doesn't last long enough and the HD is getting slower.

I'm miffed that my 4G (20Gb) iPod died a few weeks before my trip to Egypt and of course its a dilemma if I want to buy now or wait forever for an update. I'll probably buy a refurb 80Gb anyway soon.

Until about a month ago, i had a mint original 5GB with, like, NO SCRATCHES. I threw it in a hard case and went retro for a month or two.

Sorry, iPod touch. You just don't have that.... air about you.

1G 5gb version here, still kicking. Firewire has stopped working for synch sometime in the last few months (not sure why - update of iTunes that doesn't support firewire, maybe?), but still charges via firewire. Plastic ring at the headphone jack is broken off a bit on one side, but still works!
