I traded SwipePad for Swipe Home Button and Swapps, very slick though I do see a bit of lack with apps opening from the swipe left or right and down.

Couch, just curious, why do you find he swipe left or right gestures awkward when they are just half of the swipe left or right and down motion that you're using? If anything, I find those motions a little awkward.

It just feels more natural, not sure why.

The swipe left/right feels like it's harder to hit. Like I have to make sure I'm differentiating it from the regular swipe up so I don't go Home by accident or something.

The swipe left/right & down gesture is very subtle. Doesn't require much. Ditto the Swipe up-down (for sleeping the device). Just a tiny gesture will do the trick.

Here's my full setup:

SWIPE UP: Home

SWIPE UP-DOWN: Screen off & lock (if you buy the Swipe Home app, you can Bind custom apps to gestures. In this case, I'm using this free app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en)

SWIPE FAR UP: Camera

SWIPE LEFT-DOWN: Notification pull down.

SWIPE RIGHT-DOWN: Recent apps

(Nothing for swipe left and swipe right -- I find those gestures awkward to do).

And here's a neat little trick:

Because I'm using Nova launcher, I set the "home" button while on Nova's home screens to launch the app drawer. So essentially, I can swipe up twice really fast from any app on my phone and it'll take me directly to the app drawer. It's nifty.

This app and setup has REALLY changed the entire way I interact with my One. It really makes up for HTC's incompetent home placement decision and has really breathed new life to the device. Now I don't mind keeping this all the way into 2014 (except for the lack of updates).

I feel like I'm doing magic tricks with my One. :)

Glad to see that this app is helpful to quite a few of you. Also good to know that I'm not the only one that's not satisfied with the physical home buttons :D

Looks like you guys aren't the only one's recognizing the usefulness of Swipe Home Button. This article just came up on Android Central this afternoon.

The app needs to improve its reliability.

Many times I have to do the gestures several times before they work. Zephyr worked for me every single time.

Seems like the gestures only work from the middle of the screen. They should work from every part of the button of the screen.

Again, kudos to you, sir. This app has entirely changed the way I interact with my One.

Great find.

I tipped them to it yesterday. Being serious.

EDIT: Ah, I'm credited, along with someone else. :)

Swipe up and Swipe up-down work really well and consistently for me. Rarely do they miss.

'Swipe left/right' and 'swipe left/right & down' misses a bit more often.

I'd urge you to post a review on the Play Store or even reach out to the developer in the hopes that he/she'll continue improving this app.

If you could, spend the 99 cents, too. This app needs to grow!

The only issue I have from time to time is when I swipe up to go home, I'd somehow trigger the up/down gesture and turn off my phone (since that's what I have it configured to). Kind of strange.

Swipe left and right work perfectly for me. Really enjoying this app. Bought it after 10 minutes of use.

BTW you can turn up the detection area under advanced settings to increase reliability of the swipes. I made mine larger and its more consistent now.

I use the "swipe far up" gesture for turn off screen and that seems to work better for me instead of the short swipe gestures and has less accidental turn offs

That's happened to me once or twice too. I definitely recommend increasing the detection area under advanced settings. Been more reliable for me since doing that.

the issue i have now is that sometimes it takes more effort to hit the spacebar...many times it just vibrates when i try to space...but looks like i'll be spending that 0.99 anyways...

I would like an option to set the speed of the gestures so I can make them slower instead of faster, since if I do it slower sometimes it doesn't work

I had that issue a couple times but I mostly swipe so I don't press the spacebar to often. I also turned off the vibrate feature if you accidentally tap the bottom of the screen.

You could also lower your detection area. I have my detection area on "larger" but still have no problems typing/hitting the spacebar.

I'd definitely voice your concerns to the developer. This app needs to grow.

In case anyone is interested other zephyr-like features. This app lets you switch between recent apps by swiping from the right or left edge. The case on my phone makes it harder for swiping from the side edges, but I got it to work ok by adjusting the pane widths. I wont be keeping this app, but it might work better for people without cases on their phone. :)

I don't think I need this feature, but another nice find.

Try adjusting the detection area under Advanced settings:

Yeah I've been getting unintended screen offs too when barely completing the up-down gesture. A little frustrating.

This app definitely can stand to be improved and refined.

For now, I've switched it to:

Up - Home

Far up - camera

Up-down - recent apps

Up- down left / Up- down right - screen off.
