It might be a trait among Apple enthusiasts who are constantly bombarded with the same old useless and tired threads day in and day out. As for burning in hell be careful what you ask for. Third, considering the iPad has not even reached global launch stages do you really think Apple will risk cannibalizing the current iPad by launching a new one? Really? Four, there will always be a better version than the current version. I would think this was rather obvious. If you would rather wait why feel the need to share this with a group of strangers? You have a point in wanting to wait as you have a point in wanting to get it now. Either way it is a win-win, or a lose-lose. At the end of the day it is your decision.

I can understand it if Apple enthusiasts are bombarded with the same threads day in and day out, but they should remember that they were newbies at one stage and should have a bit of courtesy towards others.

I can understand Apple not wanting to risk launching a new iPad so soon which is why I'm waiting to buy the 2nd Gen version.

I mentioned that I wanted to wait before buying a iPad because I was sure that I wasn't alone in wanting to wait for one.

As for saying "burn in hell"; it's just part of my humor and I'm sure not all Apple enthusiasts are stuck up (It's just the ones that think they're better than everybody else and want to let everybody else know about it on this forum and other Apple-related forums)

In any case, part of my signature clearly states that I'm not a Apple fanboy and will never be one!:D

Hmm. Could be the new iPad BEFORE Christmas afterall. BTW, I Posted a similar thread a few weeks ago.
LOL, I thought this was the one I had posted.

EXCERPT:

Consumers might not have to wait for Apple's typical yearly refresh cycle in order to see new features built into the company's iPad tablet. According to sources briefing Apple Insider, Apple is already hard at work on a new iteration of the iPad that, amongst other features, will incorporate the company's Facetime video chat into the 9.5 by 7.5-inch device.

Of course, that means that the iPad will need the same kind of user-facing camera built into itsimilar to the company's original iPhone 4—and the recently announced revamp of its iPod Touch. According to Apple Insider's sources, such a device is already in the advanced testing stages over at Apple in preparation for a release no later than the first quarter of 2011.

That's the worst-case scenario, however; According to sources, Apple is actually trying to get design and production up to speed in order to have a new iteration of the iPad on retail shelves prior to the 2010 holiday season. Although that would break the schedule of Apple's typical product cycle, it would still fall in line with the company's overall product strategy: supplementing and boosting existing products with new features and software elements, rather than dropping prices to stir retail sales.

Get money and wait a few weeks and see what Mr Jobs has in store.

And no, the next one won't be 7". Why would they introduce yet another screen size into the mix for developers.

Because there might be a lot of potential in a smaller, lighter and cheaper device... There are already some smaller tablets out. 5" and 7" tablets seem to fill a different segment of the market.

^Isn't that what the ipod touch/iphone is for. I've always thought the 5"-7" is a weird form factor. Not quite small enough to be considered pocketable, and not quite big enough to share or create content. Nice form factor for exclusive consumption I guess (via ereaders)

I dont know why this keeps on coming up but Apple's product cycles are annual. The iPhone is every June. MacBooks, January and the iPad around the same time it arrived this year. April or May.

emm NOPE! the computer side of Apple has usually 2 update cycles throughout the year, ex. macbooks, mac mini and such... It might not be a complete overhaul, but is a change and thus still a cycle...
Also the iPod touch, nano and shuffle had 2 cycles on one year at their beginnings also...

I got an idea. Why not email SJ and ask him if there is new iPad before Christmas, then let us know if he respond.

My folks are most likely buying me an iPad for Christmas this year. I was just curious if there's any chance Apple will revise them for the holiday season? Or would I be better off just getting a gift card and waiting for the new model early next year? Thanks for any suggestions.

That's a big fat NO!!!

OP just get the gift card! If by some miracle it comes @ Xmas time you can still use it to buy it or whenever the true date comes you could still buy it... You can't lose w/ the GC! Of course cash money is better as it can accumulate interest in the bank and/or you could buy other things...
