One thing I loved about the three iBooks I've owned was their small size - the 12.1" iBook was the perfect machine for the road, big enough to watch DVDs on, small enough to watch them in Coach class seats.

The 13" MacBook is very handsome, and that widescreen aspect ratio is beautiful, but I'd rather have a smaller machine.

any ideas of the likelihood of that happening?

Highly doubtful, in the near future at least. I'd like to see them move back to the 12"/14" line or even 12"/13"/14" because that seems like it would obviously hit all marks. I loved the 12" PB and I just don't think that the MB does that computer justice.

I can't deal with a computer larger than a 12" powerbook now...they're just too clunky, and the widescreen macbook doesn't work very well either, as it doesn't fit in small backpacks nearly as well as the 12". Plus, I like the metal case design about 1000x more than I like plastic laptops.

I also need portability in a laptop, but I have to say that my friend's Macbook that I borrowed is no larger than my 12" iBook when you factor in thickness and depth; if anything, I'd say it might be a little more portable.

Maybe if u suck steve jobs -CENSORED-

As gross as it sounds, if sucking steve jobs -CENSORED- will bring the small MBP back I think quite a lot of people will actually *just do it*

Not me though

I think there's a chance of an ultraportable. But we're probably talking 10-11" not 12 because that's too close to the macbook.

I happen to like the way the metal case looks too, better than the plastic macbooks.

Having said that, my 12" PB looked pretty for about a month, then it got a ding that never came out. I've got a friend with masssive dents all over his just from dropping it. The advantage? Plastic.

Having played with a MacBook at the store I would guess that the size differential isn't all that noticeable. It is defnitely thinner, and that IS noticeable.

The Ultra Protable thing would be cool. But I couldn't imagine pumping out a 12" MacBook, it's just too close.

I'm thinkin 12" MBP, since there are 2 of the 3 PB sizes already made, so now they need a replacement for the 12" PB. The MB is like a 'tween to the 12" and 14" iBook with its 13" screen, so if there is a new 12" notebook, it would probably be the MBP line.

As much as i'd like to hope that they would be a 12" model of the MB/MBP, highly doubt if (even more so for the MB). Apple's adverts have stated that 'the family is now complete'. Oh well... you can only wish.

Not if they kept on making it titanium.. But they didn't, so I'll shut up. :)

13.3" MBP in Aug....
What for?

If they release anything new, they should do a 11".

17", 15", 13", and now the new baby in the family: 11" Macbook Mini.

Omgwtfbbq!!1

Just to put you in perspective: there are much much greater chances of getting a brand spanking nu iPod video with built in wifi, toaster, george foreman and bluetooth next Tuesday.

yeah, it'll be a tablet once it hits 10.6" or something.

btw i find it interesting that the macbook is much lighter than the 12inch. my mom's pretty much sold on the macbook now.
