If Apple roles out a 12" MBP, I think I would sell this iBook in a heart beat...and to those who have read other threads by me, you know I really don't wanna sell this thing.

Apple isn't going to make a sliiiiightly smaller MB model because some people are whinging over a very small difference. It would make no sense to make a 12" and 13.3" MB. They're more likely to make an 8.6", 10" or 11" machine than a 12" MB.

I was sceptical about the size of the new MB as well............until I brought my PB over to an Apple reseller and placed them side by side. My 12" PB was taller than the MB, and thicker. The 12" PB was 2 fingerwidths longer. For those of you who are complaining about the size of the MB, you really should see them side by side.

IThey're around the same size. In fact, my 13.3" MB fits inside my 12" PB's STM shoulder bag, so a new bag wasn't required when I sold my 12" PB.

For those complaining about the portability of the MB, I'll admit that it's heavier than the 12" PB. You're right. However, you're gonna have to do better than "it's 0.5 lbs heavier." Go to a gym and lift some weights. Hopefully, that 1/2 lb won't kill your shoulders anymore.

Actually the macbook fits better (than the 12.1") in coach class seats, as it's a bit shorter, so you can move the screen back further.

If you have ever used a MB on an airplane, you'd probably have to admit to all of us that "you have no idea what you're going on about." The 12" PB is taller when the lid is open, and was harder to use on an airplane. I've been on 2 airplanes with my MB, and am flying again in 9 days.

Well, the rumor is ... I heard they might make 15.4" macbook. No news for 12" or less. But I don't know if it's true or not. Let's hope they make 15.4" so my g/f can buy it for her college!

Hay guays! Any chaynce of a PowerrBook GEE5 soun? I'd hell darn laike on'a deese?

NOOOOO! NO 12" MB! EVER! THERE WON'T! "MEET THE FAMILY - NOW COMPLETE! GET IT?:D

when it comes to portable I am of the belief that smaller is WAY better

apple needs a 10" or 12" MB, then make the black MB dedicated graphics ;)

One thing I loved about the three iBooks I've owned was their small size - the 12.1" iBook was the perfect machine for the road, big enough to watch DVDs on, small enough to watch them in Coach class seats.

The 13" MacBook is very handsome, and that widescreen aspect ratio is beautiful, but I'd rather have a smaller machine.

any ideas of the likelihood of that happening?

i can envision a 4 pound ultra thin macbook and/or macbook pro...the pc world has had 12.1" inch sub-4 pound laptops for a long time now from consumer units to very expensive ones

the need is definitely there

i predict that we will see one or both this fall...and a new quad intel tower introduced in san francisco, along with adobe's rumored cs 3, in january '07
