The chatter I'm hearing from Computex suggests a launch in late 2016, but most vendors are not expecting volume shipments until Q1'17. Also, TB3 will still require a separate Alpine Ridge controller, and Skylake already supports that.
Didn't know that it needed the controller still, you think they'd delay an iMac release for new CPUs?

There's not really a point to update the iMac without new CPUs. It's of course as Apple could update the GPUs and include support for TB3, but historically Apple only updates the iMac (and Macs in general) when new CPUs from Intel are available.

:(I really wish someone knew definitively whether there would be a refresh at WWDC.

Historically not. WWDC is all about the updates to OS X, iOS, tvOS, watchOS, Xcode, APIs etc.

Actually I wouldn't care about CPU or GPU upgrades, Apple first has to stop (full stop) producing iMacs with HDDs inside. I played around in an Apple store with the latest (base) 4K model and it's a total "turd". Absolutely not responsive, it takes 5-10 secs before e.g. the settings open. 128 GB SSD if not 256 GB should be base-line.... for that money.

AMD Polaris announcements (real performance) should come this week at Computex.

For AMD, it's important technology, because not only their discrete offerings depend on them, but looks like the next gen console (X1, PS4) APUs are coming as well in the next 12-16 months. Also featuring Polaris 10 (?) or a custom design based on Polaris (mix-and-match of CUs and special IP).

I would say it's unlikely. The 27" is already using the latest Intel Skylake CPUs, so there's nothing Apple could really update it with. The 21.5" is using previous generation Broadwell CPUs (suitable Skylake CPUs were not available at the time) and technically Apple could do a minor update, but I believe Apple will wait until Kaby Lake CPUs and new GPUs are available later this year before doing an update.

Isn't Kaby Lake a Core M CPU, so more for non-pro Macbooks or Macbook Air ?

Intel naming is getting very confusing. Could also be that it's a new Core M based on "Kaby Lake" architecture improvements. On the other hand, Core M is a dfiferent "animal" than the regular i3, i5 and i7 etc.

Kaby Lake is an architecture, just like Skylake that is now used in everything from the 12" MacBook to 27" iMac. It seems that Intel is targeting to get the low-power mobile chips (i.e. Core M) out first and then desktop chips later.

We might just see the iMac Pro:

Maybe thinner bezels, a small spec bump, but most importantly... it'll be available in rose gold. oooooh (he said sarcastically)
