Just curious for those who have received their new 20/24" whether you had any dead pixels.

If go, where did you buy it and did you do anything about it?

My 24" 2.8 arrives next week so keeping my fingers crossed. My MBP 15" C2D has a perfect screen but my MB Black C2D had 1 dead pixel, not earth shattering.

My 2.8 24" arrived a week ago monday with 1 stuck red and 2 stuck white "hot" pixels, as well as some backlight bleeding issues. My replacement arrived yesterday, and also has one stuck red pixel, but this one is 1/2 cm from the right edge of the screen about 1/2 way up, so I don't really notice it. I am hoping it might go away at some point. I tried jscreenfix for 20 min last night but that didn't get rid of it.

I had several dead and stuck pixles on 2 20" units and returned them for a 24 which is perfect.

I have 2 pixel issues on my 24" one dead pixel in bottom left corner (no big issue) and a stuck on red pixel which is more central.

To be honest though unless I'm typing up close to the screen and the cursor passes the pixel I don't notice it.

I can live with this minor fault in an otherwise great machine. The 24" is worth it to enjoy front row... if this thing had SCART inputs it could replace my TV !! :)

No dead pixels on the one I'm returning. I hope my replacement doesn't have them. I know it would bug me a lot.

But so far 50% of the iMacs have dead pixels according to this thread ;) Doesn't look promising.

I have a 2.8 ghz and do not have any issues at all with it. No dead pixles! Of course, now that I said that, something will happen to it.

I called Apple a lit while ago to express my disappointment in getting a second machine with as little as one stuck pixel. They said they would be happy to replace even though it was just one, however I don't know that I want to go through the trouble and waiting. They said I have 14 days to decide. I guess I could try jscreenfix for a longer time period and see if that unsticks it. There is also a widget for it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm hoping my 24" 2.8 won't have any dead pixels. I know LCD manufacturers have their policy of 1-2 pixels not being a big deal but when you have something as elegant as an iMac Aluminum it would be nicer to know it's perfect. Good point about the turnaround time if you get Apple to replace ... taking 10 days from date of order to ship to me ... last time I checked ... checking every couple of hours ... :)

Bought mine at the store before they even had displays out - 24", no dead/stuck pixels! I am new to macs and I love it! Everything really is easier - stickies rule :)

When i first turned it on i noticed 10 or so pixel sized white dots, was like "waiting soo long for this and finally got it its gotta go back" but thank christ was just bits of dust etc, as the disappeared after a quick wipe of the screen.

so far not noticed any after 2 boot ups, but that 24" screen is a big arse screen
