I don't remember which macOS I used with it as I was experimenting with Mojave, Catalina, and Big Sur.

I'm using this dock with my M1 MBP. It works fine while I'm using the computer, but if I walk away for even 15-20 minutes the computer restarts with a kernel panic. I'm pretty sure it's a compatibility issue with the dock, but curious if others have had similar experiences or know of a fix.

I have just bought the OWC Thunderbolt 3 hub (5 port). USB 3.0 devices work fine (HDD 100-150Mbs, ssd 300 Mbs). When i plugged in a Crucial X8 USB 3.1 Gen 2 drive throughput plummeted to 150 Mbs when plugged in hub from 750 Mbs when plugged directly into M1. I do not have any other higher speed devices to check at the moment. Both my supplier and I contacted OWC and to be honest, their responses where dismissive and uncaring. They admitted there was a problem, blamed the M1 Mac controllers and did not appear to understand why they should remove the claims on their website that the hub works with M1 Macs. I am sending it back. Hugely disappointed with OWC's attitude. The problem might be with the Mac M1 but that does not absolve OWC from warning their customers.

I've had this dock (https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/owc-thunderbolt-dock) for months now. Using it with my M1 MacBook Air.

Connected to it are powered speakers, a Logitech Brio 4K webcam, Logitech RF mouse dongle, USB-C to DisplayPort cable (connected to a 4K Dell monitor), Apple TB3 to TB2 adapter (connected to a TB2 SSD) and a Belkin USB-C ethernet adapter.

I've had no problems with the dock at all with the exception of the built-in ethernet port. For some reason, it seems to disconnect itself from the computer every so often. A Belkin USB-C to ethernet adapter plugged in to one of the dock's USB-C/TB3 ports has been rock solid and bypasses the dock's own ethernet adapter. There's been a couple updates to Big Sur since, so maybe it was something Apple fixed, but my setup is solid as-is, so I have no need to mess with it.

Doesn't the TB4 dock require Big Sur to run? I'd like to get one for my trash can MP6,1 just for the increased USB speeds delivered via TB2-3 adapter, not necessarily for boot devices at the moment.
It's confirmed working for you on the MP:6,1 still?

I actually had an order in for the OWC TB4 dock, but after looking things over decided the 14 port TB3 dock was a better fit for me. I mostly bought it for my M1 MBP, but have used it some with older computers.

It does give you a single high speed USB-C port.

I have used it with my 2011 MBP, which is TB1. In High Sierra(highest officially supported) everything works perfectly, although USB-C won't get its rated speed just because TB1 bottlenecks it.

Still, though, it's nice to get USB 3.0 on this computer. Back when I bought it in 2012(it was my first Mac) TB options were few and far between, and one of the few hubs/docks out there was the Apple Thunderbolt Display. I kept hoping someone would make a USB 3.0 compatible dock, or even then kept waiting for an updated TB display with USB 3.0, but TB didn't REALLY take off until TB3 came along.

just got the OWC tb4 dock connected to a M1 MBP 13 and the built in Ethernet adapter simply doesn’t work. I could do something like you are but I’m not sure I want to pay for something that doesn’t work. I contacted OWC but will probably return it if this doesn’t work.
