im honestly amazed how you got this kind of damage with no contact or abuse. I have a 2017 macbook pro which has taken hundreds of falls, off my workbench onto the concrete floor of my shop..kitchen table to tile floor, has all the corners dented in and the back corner of the screen is tweaked making the image get slightly lighter in the corner. STILL dont have any cracks or damage like your shows. How did I get so lucky
#MeToo.

Perhaps it shows it was a manufacturing defect...

According to: https://serial-number-decoder.co.uk/apple-serial-number/apple-serial.php

"This 'MacBook Air (M1, 2020)' was made in Tech Com - Quanta Computer Subsidiary, China in week 45 of 2010."

I suspect they mean week 45 of 2020. I bought mine as a store pick up on Friday 20th November.

I just have the standard AppleCare, not the paid AppleCare+
Same here.

Apple model name= MacBook Air (M1, 2020)
Model release date= 2020
Apple serial format= 2010 onward
Date of manufacture= Week 45 of 2020
Place of manufacture= Tech Com - Quanta Computer Subsidiary, China

Good luck. I am confused between AppleCare and AppleCare+. Shenanigans with branding I say!

I never pay extra.

Good luck and keep us posted.

LCDs can crack on their own. It's very rare but it does happen. If the outer glass is not cracked and does not have any markings on it, and the rest of the computer also does not have any markings on it, you may have a case you could make. You're probably facing an uphill battle though given how many people claim these screens cracked on their own, and the vast majority of these assertions are inaccurate. The cracking pattern itself does visually resemble a clear point of impact, which may make this harder to argue--that said, the outer glass not being cracked, chipped, or damaged may help your case.

I think the bottom line is that it is going to require some goodwill on behalf of Apple to replace this under warranty. Best I can say is approach it positively with a friendly demeanor, state your case, show appreciation for their consideration, and hope for the best. As much as we do criticize Apple on the forums, they often do show their customers goodwill and they might have a little goodwill in store here.

Thank you. Apple have agreed to a replacement without any issue or pressure, even without physically examining it. They based it off my description and photos. I think because it's still within the exchange period.

That's Apple for you with some holiday goodwill. They could have just as easily claimed this is your fault and said you are on your own, but instead they decided to make your life a lot simpler and save you a lot of money. They didn't have to do this (even in the two week window), but they chose to. I guarantee you many other manufacturers would not do this. Mad props to Apple for going above and beyond for their customers and glad to hear you have reached a happy resolution. May the replacement serve you well!

Did you find any solution??? Cause same thing happened to me. Closed an opened the mac and then it was cracked. Never drop it. Apple won’t willing to take responsibility claiming it ia a physical damage
