Get V-Moda Vibes

I picked up a pair of these from a vending machine at Macy's for around $40, and they rock. They're an older model now, so you can probably find them for a discount. They seem pretty solid, and the bass is incredible for an inexpensive headphone. As for the rest of the audio spectrum they aren't bad. You can do better in that regard, but probably not anywhere near $40, and not with this kind of bass.

I got the Philips SHE9550. In USA they are $23 at amazon.com.

I was even trying the iPod EQs to reduce a bit the bass.

I guess I'll have to break them in first, to get an accurate impression.

Thank you all for your advice.

I like my Vmoda Vibe Duo's. great range on a relatively cheap in ears (£70 UK). First thing I listened to was some losless Queen tracks, and you could hear freddies age change his voice in the tracks.

I can only echo what others have suggested, try the Klipsch Image S4i.
I myself use the Image X10 (the Image S4i are from what I've read in reviews essentially the same as X10, only S4i are cheaper and tailored to iPhones) and the bass and the fit is especially great.

I've gone through some highly rated in-ears that I just stopped using because they were too much hassle putting on and the fit wasn't great.

Whatever you buy, make sure you can try them first or at least have the right to return them if they don't fit or the bass lets you down.

I had a pair of Sennheiser CX300s that sounded great. The wire got a short after about a year though.

Now I have a pair of Skullcandy Titans. People like to bag on Skullcandy, but I like then. They sound just as good.

It seems Ladytron is difficult. What headphones are good for it (no distortion) ?

I switched that album from 160 Kbps MP3 to AIFF. Maybe it's a little better, but yes, I guess it would have to be remastered.

I bought a set of Sennheiser PMX80 Sports Series II to use while running. I am very impressed with their sound quality. They have much better bass response than the included Apple earbuds. The list price is $60, but you can find them on Amazon for $35. I chose to buy mine at a local Fry's so I could return them if they didn't have good sound. They're very comfortable, too, and I get adjusted enough to no longer feel them on me within 5-10 minutes.

I also tried the Apple in-ear earbuds before I got the Sennheisers, and I was very disappointed with them. They seemed worse than the basic Apple earbuds to me. I personally don't like fully in-the-ear earbuds, either. I tried a pair of Bose in one of their stores, and they did sound nice. But, they're not really sports oriented, and they were way too expensive.

Stumbled upon another messed up album. I checked out the waveform and it was horrible.

It seems the iPod is great at pointing out badly engineered songs. One fails to notice this when casually listening to them occasionally on full sized speakers.

I wonder how many such bad records I have.

No wonder remastered versions are often cheaper than older ones at Amazon. But I wonder if those are all badly engineered, or it's just motivated by people's mistrust.
