Adding Apple Watch to their portfolio of things they need to develop for, I can say it's obvious is not going to care much for photographers. Heck, they went from 2 photo apps down to 1. They may just setup the initial framework and controls, and let the plug in people handle the rest.

I think this is right in the money. We really know what it's going to be, iOS Photos + RAW processing that's already in Yosemite + some more granular controls, like this picture above. Beyond that it will be up to 3rd party's to fill in the gaps with extensions. Apple is basically providing a platform to provide developers something to build on and a basic photo DAM for the average user. After giving this much consideration, I realized my heart has been broken by Apple in the past too many times to expect anything more than this.

From the screen shots that I've seen (from its announcement) all the pieces are there for a very capable app. It certainly looks to have all the adjustments people would expect as well as some innovative adjustments that correlate together like "Light" and "Color". I believe there was a commitment from Apple shortly after its announcement that it would provide plugin support as well.

It could drop anytime between now and April I expect. It's unlikely affected by Apple's watch or anything else since the team working on this is probably unable to contribute much to other projects. The fact is, the longer it takes, the more capable it's likely to be at introduction so be careful what you wish for. A release tomorrow won't be as good as one two months from now. And, for me, Aperture and NIK still work as well as they always have. I understand the challenge for new folks, but veterans just need to be patient.
Fully agree on that...

Does anyone know if this has been scrapped? I cannot find any reference on Apple.com any more to it coming out early 2015.

Maybe the more secret it gets the more likely it is to be imminent, and the more likely it'll be killer (honest; I know I've been cyncial about this, but hey, who saw the retina iMac coming? not many, and not at that price, etc.). Apple loves their secrecy.

I sure hope so. I hope they didn't table the app all together. There are references to iPhoto on their iCloud photo library page

I doubt that, but it's anyone's guess as to when it's actually coming. They did do a minor iCloud web update to photos over the weekend it looks like, so that's something.

Did it actually say early 2015 on the website at one point? I know they just said that in their presentation, but I'm not sure if I ever saw it on the site.

I was pretty sure I saw it somewhere on there. I can't seem to find it now or on archive.org.

Ya, it's gone. That's why I didn't bother with enabling it on my iPhone 6 Plus or mess with the browser app. There's just too many holes and no information coming from app to jack with it. I'm happy with Dropbox and Carousel.

I don't really want to pay $10 a month for my photos. $3.99 for 200GB would be more than sufficient.

Plus dropbox for mac doesn't capture the iPhoto library.

It fits my needs. I stand by my tried and true folder based system. Plus I get alot for my $100 with Dropbox as I use it for other things.

Also, Dropbox has no problem with iPhoto Library...

Well that's interesting. Likely it means it's slipped, so what will it be released at WWDC now? If it does slip, without a doubt the watch is at fault. IF that's the case it will be another reason I'm happy I made the choice to switch to LR, I really don't want to invest time in a company's creative tools when they place a ridiculously expensive gadget in front of creative tools the majority of their customers will use.

I'm using Lightroom / Lightroom Mobile and Bittorent sync instead of iCloud photos. So far, so good and it only costs me the $10 I'd already paying for the CC photo suite.

Mine would never work for me, I tried and just get an error. Had to export all my pics to a folder, then copy to Dropbox.

How much space do you get with that?

Oh I thought for some reason the CC apps were only 2GB. So for $10 a month you get Lightroom and unlimited space??

The storage that Lightroom mobile / web uses is unlimited. The Creative Cloud file storage space is 2GB (or if you have the full suite 20 GB).

I looked into that a little bit. I don't see an easy way to get the photos from my phone without plugging it into the computer and importing. The mobile app doesn't seem to have an import option. Otherwise this could potentially be a good solution.

The mobile app will automatically import your photos as you take them and when you first load it it will ask you if you want to import your camera roll.

I did not get that option on my iPad... I will try it on my phone and see.

It comes up at the bottom of the screen as a little banner. I don't think I saw it on the iPad. Also if you dismiss it, I haven't found a way to bring it back, I actually had to reinstall the app to get it back because the first time I wasn't ready to do that.
