Wow...this phone has a really small foot print compared to other phones....I wonder if it is going to be too small for me? I tried the S8 and it was way too small for my big hands.....

I love the size, I prefer a smaller phone and this one has a Note sized display. Won’t have to chose anymore between large screen and small phone.

Screen size is all that matters right, unless you're into bezels? On that account it's similar to the 7 Plus, just in a smaller package. I personally like it - my own P9 is physically as big as the regular 7, but with a much bigger screen.

yes, screen size matters but it's not all created equally, IMO, based on aspect ratio. The U11 and 7 Plus still feel like they have larger screens based on the 16:9 ratio vs the 2:1 on my S8. The S8 has a 5.8" screen, but with the 2:1 ratio and the curves, it's not quite that size and likely has a similar area to the 7 Plus, U11, etc. I think it's just too tall and narrow. I'd love to have a ~6" screen with a similar aspect ratio to the Essential PH-1 with the minimum bezel (but at least something to hold on to, unlike the edges of my S8... even a G6 sized bezel would be fine (hello V30!)).

I think the higher the aspect ratio, the smaller the surface for a given diagonal. According to the rumours the Mate 10 wil have what you want (6.1” similar aspect ratio with the Essential and minimal bezels). I’m waiting for it myself.

I thought the mate 9 had an excellent balance of screen to body ratio. I wish I liked their UI better. Maybe I'll check out the mate 10 when it releases

The Mate 9 had a perfect aspect ratio, I'm also one of the few interested if the Mate 10 makes the bezels smaller, but keeps a 16:9 aspect ratio.

I emailed them to cancel my order yesterday. They replied that will try but it is shipping very soon so they might not able to cancel right now.
My only reason to cancel is the overall size of the phone. It is the same size as the regular S8 and that phone just got lost in my big hands!

That's a terrible answer. If the phone left the warehouse, fine. But if it hasn't, they should be able to stop it.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm just saying, there's hope that it goes out today.

Hey, me too. Although as I said previously the company is pretty much putting it on the table that service is going to be terrible. I don't know how this portends for software updates, but any issues with the device and we will probably be in SOL-land.

Yep.... They need to learn how to "under promise and over deliver"... SMH.. email from their support staff

Nope! However, I did just get hit up for the 360 camera, which is apparently ready to go.

Yes, I ordered it.

In for a penny...

Please do let us know how you like the phone! I will be patiently waiting for my pure white model... I am going to regret this I know but that white model just looks to damn good and the reviews so far have been mostly positive. I hope by the time that the white model is ready that an Android O update will be out as well as camera improvements.

May not make it to opening the box. Still no tracking as of yet. So they've blown their next self-imposed deadline of shipping within 7 days. Last time I asked a rep, they said 24-48.

I'm now leaning towards not accepting the phone. This is the third time they've missed their own promise on delivery. After a point you can't just assume its a screw up vs dishonest practice. So as a consumer what I'm left with is this: if the phone sucks, will returning it be a nightmare? Conversely, if I love it and have an issue, what will support look like?

No excuse for any of this. Start up or not.

I'm not surprised they've missed their shipping deadline as well. After all we are talking about a company thinks that the word imminent means over a month.

Here is another impressions video, but it includes some camera sample shots, including some taken with the pixel camera app loaded onto the essential phone, and those look really good to me. I hope they can get the software worked out, but at least it seems I can load the pixel camera if needed.

So no shipping notifications for anyone yet? I wonder what the hold up is now. Also wondering when I can see one in the store. Likely a long time from now at this pace...

I am just going to charge it at Best Buy on their card when it is available. I doubt it will be on display but if so all the better to check out first.
