It is. But the 12.9 will be my stationary device. I think once I add the Smart Keyboard, it will really completely the desktop appeal I have been wanting. At least, it will give me More uses as a desktop.

Of course, definitely a desktop appeal. I guess I lean more towards the 10.5 because it provides the desktop experience as well as the mobile. Best of both.

I was uncertain until I saw both in store this morning; went for the 12.9". This 2nd gen does not seem as big as the 1st and it does not seem as bulky either, (probably due to the bigger dimensions of the 10.5).

For drawing and writing, 12.9 will be the right size for me (my commute not withstanding, but that's fine. I tried an iPP again this time for the promise of it being more than a consumption device - so I am eager to get home and dive in big time).

Just got my iPad Pro 12.9 Space Grey 256GB. It's bloody brilliant!
The one things that's stands out the most for me compared to my original 12.9 pro is the screen! The 120Hz makes is buttery smooth, the True Tone makes it more pleasant (less blue tint) and miles less reflective. The Apple Pencil is fantastic and writing on it feels much more natural with no noticeable lag in Notes.
Downside? The on screen keyboard in 10.3.2 for some reason feels very laggy but that is minor.

I'm still playing with it . Let me know if you have any questions I'll be happy to help!

Have just in from work and am sat doing the same. Very pleased so far

Got my 12.9" today. What a nice iPad, fits perfectly on my lap on the sofa to watch videos, read comics and magazines etc. Was afraid to regret buying it over the 10.5", but no way. Upgraded from iPad Air 1 - oh boy, this is what heaven feels like!

It might be too early to say, but people coming from the 1st gen. 12.9 pro, how easy is it to clean/wipe fingerprints and smudges off? My 1st gen is really hard to clean even though I "baby" it.

Wiping finger prints is easy even with only a dry cloth and not much pressure. That said I expected better from an (at least assumed by me) brand-new and improved anti-fingerprint-coating – five minutes in use after unboxing, the glass already looks horrible again like when using my old iPad Air 1. :) Leaving ugly oily tracks on touchscreens the second you touch them probably simply is a given fact you can't change with any "wonder coating" in the world ...

Same 4GB RAM as the model that's been out for 1.5 years

That's why the 12.9 isn't anything to get excited about, it's also still just as heavy

Same damn ipad 12.9 as it was 18months ago, just with a better screen and a CPU that no app really takes advantage of yet.

But for people that didnt experience last years model, they ar ein for a real treat.

Too big for my tastes. Returned mine the day it arrived and bought an additional 9.7.

Hard to get excited for everyone's 12.9 when my 10.5 arrived today!!!;)

The Promotion is simply awesome!

Are the 4GB in the 12.9" already comfirmed or may it still be 6GB like the "4GB vs 2GB" difference on last year's Pros?

I just remember that the 12.9" and the 9.7" Pro had the exactly same-named A9X, but the 12.9" with 4GB and the 9.7" with 2GB RAM. Don't know where you have your definite info on the new ones from to be so confident as I haven't read about an iFix teardown of the 10.5" and 12.9" Gen 2 yet – I also unfortunately expect both with still 4GB this time and no extra RAM for the 12.9" though.

If ios 11 changes my mind, I will get a 12.9. Tried the 9.7 and it's too small, barely found a use for it. But I'd like to see smaller bezels on the 12.9 like the 10.5

True.

I disagree. For a device that is basically all screen, the new screen of the 12.9, being much better than before in several ways, is a big deal.

it's also still just as heavy

No, it's not. It's a little lighter. I noticed it right away.

I'm torn over which to lean towards if I decide to get a new one. I've been thinking for the last year that I would get a 12.9 for sure because BIGGER SCREEN!! But I do love the form-factor of my Air 2. I just wish they'd applied their bezel-reducing magic to the 12.9. Just can't think of a reason they didn't except they still had shells sitting around they wanted to unload for another year (or 2 since it's been almost 2 years since the original 12.9).

I guess they needed the space for the bigger battery, to keep hitting the 10h spec.

Btw, the "shells" are not the same. For one, the microphone holes are placed differently.

Just got mine. Upgraded from an Air 2. Holy cow, this thing is massive! Going to have to give myself a couple days to adjust before I make a final decision. Yes, I tried them at the Apple Store but it's just different when it's in your hands and you're holding it...

10.5" is the new hotness. That 12.9" tablet is just too big especially if the specs are the same.

If Apple gave the 4.7" iPhone the same specs (including battery life) as the 5.5" iPhone I would be all over the smaller cheaper model. I'm willing to bet that over half of the people that bought a 5.5" iPhone would kill to have the same exact features and spec's in a smaller phone. It's the one thing Samsung has done correctly with the S8 and S8 Plus. Actually Apple took it a step further by making sure that the screen DPI remained the same in all new 2017 iPads.

After I bought my 10.5" at Best Buy I went over to take a look at the 12.9" and found it ridiculous in size. There is a use case scenario for the larger size and to be fair it's dependent on the user. I could see myself benefiting 25% from the extra screen size but in bed or bathroom never.

The original 12.9 did without the oleophobic coating that other iPads have to make the Pencil work better. They seem to have overcome what ever the reason for this was as the new 12.9 does come with the oleophobic coat.

So it should be much easier to keep clean.

Mine is on the truck. It'll be showing up any minute now (according to their new beta 'Follow My Delivery').

Cannot wait.
