So why do i have an AppleTV iOS 6 beta sitting on my computer for both the AppleTV 2 and 3 (waiting to do my iPhone and iPad first.

Acutally with Mountain Lion the AirPlay only works with specific hardware, its not just a software thing, same as it does with the iPhone 4S.

My MacBook Pro is not compatible, its processor bassed I have a i7 2.8Ghz, from 2010. So it wont work on mine.

Well, that shoots me out of the water then. Double bummer.

It seems to be taking some time but it's the natural progression Apple should take. Release the AppleTV wait until it is enough homes, release Mountain Lion with AirPlay will give potential developers and consumers a good idea as to what could be successful as a TV app then release the ability to make the apps. Other companies including google are making tv apps and I haven't heard a peep about them. Let the developers mess around with AirPlay to help them envision a good TV app experience, for example turning all the personal apps into group apps. No one wants to see my personal Facebook/Twitter feeds on my Tv. The. Once it's mastered release the developer kit.

i have a feeling if its any big UI changes or updates it would of been reported by someone who isn't waiting

If your computer idn't compatible with mountain lion AirPlay you can try the airparriot app, it is compatible with some machines that native mountain lion AirPlay diesn't work on.

I've tried it. Unfortunately, some sources do not have smooth motion. I've contacted there TS, which was very responsive, by the way. There conclusion was that I do not have enough processing power for it to stream movies smoothly.

I know I don't have the latest and greatest Mac (and if I did, I would not need AirParrot), but I was surprised an early 2009 loaded up with RAM would not have enough processing power.

Its ok to whine about no app store for atv. Simple way around it is jailbreak. Its easy. It can be done with the atv2 with the latest os uodate and untethered and you get tons os programming. Were talking a 99$ oroduct here. Do you really think apple is going to devote any time to this product. Thats why apple allows the jailbreak.

Well, that's a great idea for those who have the aTV2, for the rest of us, there is no jailbreak and may never be one.

I think apple will open atv to 3rd party developers when they make the 3d virtual remote controller so the apps will be innovative and challenging.

By they way, I ordered atv 3 yesterday and will get the box tomorrow.

I have got 2010 mbp with ssd hard drive.

with airparrot or with mountain lion will my config be enough to airplay 1080 mkv files to my led tv ?
