I am in Japan so I kinda count as non-US but I am in the military. The thing that sucks is Apple doesn't ship to FPO/APO so I have to use a third party to get it.

Some companies are so lazy. Where I am at the base is considered a Cali address so shipping is nothing. All they have to do is fill out a customs form. The package goes to San Fran then the military takes it from there.

It's not a "lazy" thing, it's just that the USPS is a miserable experience and too too risky and expensive for companies to use. If FedEx destroys or loses a company's packages in transit, it takes them few weeks to investigate and reimburse. If the USPS destroys or loses a company's packages they go to lunch for a few months and then give some crazy excuse why they are not liable like the plane traveled over the International Date Line.

Also USPS, obviously, doesn't ship from China, so even if Apple did use USPS for package services in the U.S., the iPads don't ship from the U.S.

why would anyone feel leftout? Microsoft and Apple are U.S. companies, so, you're all welcome for computers and the internet.

Think you'll find that the guy who invented the internet was british and it was invented at CERN. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Berners-Lee

and also the guy who invented the computer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Turing

So YOUR welcome! ;)

Sir Timothy John "Tim" Berners-Lee, OM, KBE, FRS, FREng, FRSA (born 8 June 1955[1]), is a British engineer and computer scientist and MIT professor credited with inventing the World Wide Web, making the first proposal for it in March 1989.

WWW != Internet.

I kinda feel left out (the Netherlands). First they posted on the Dutch Apple site "late march, early april" and now they have just kinda postponed it for an unknown time. Germany, France etc. will get it but we won't. I neither like it that they don't give any information about, for example, pricing.

And than another thing: Dutch is one of the languages which the iPad supports, and they don't even release it over here. That's just stupid stupid stupid.
But who knows, early may, late may or early june?

Have fun with your iPad on the 3th of April everyone!

After thinking it over a bit I am not all that disgruntled over waiting till the end of April to get one (although I wish it was April 3 like the US). I'm just mainly annoyed with the lack of international pricing. I mean, the exchange rate between Canada/US is less than 5% right now, so assuming that rate an iPad would be $524 canadian, but I wouldn't be surprised to see apple do $549 or even $599. I think they need to release pricing immediately to help international dwelling customers make a choice on which model/whether to get one at all.

Actually it is a lazy thing. The items would go to California first and then from there the military brings it to the bases in Japan. Like I said all it requires is a little customs form which the companies don't want to fill out.

It works both ways..

Any Americans desperate for a jailbreak on the iPad will have to wait till after the rest of us get them at least as it's unlikely the dev team or anyone else will release anything until the iPad has been distributed fully worldwide.

they said that about the 3gs but did it anyway.

Well its kind of a trade off, U.S. get Apple Products because Apple is a U.S. Company, but Japan gets all the Sony stuff and stuff from a lot of other companies before the U.S. does.

That's so not true. A lot of companies first launch in Europe and/or the USA before they are going to launch it in other countries.

Well it's about time we should get a pre-order on their site now, it's out in the USA, let us "internationals" rise up now!! lol :D

I don't feel left out because of the launch date, but Europeans are definitely getting the shaft in terms of features. The iBook-store, which looks amazing, has not been confirmed for EU-iPads yet. The same thing goes for a few killer apps that have already been introduced: the Netflix and ABC-apps look amazing, but I'm sure they won't be available in Europe anytime soon, perhaps never. Keep in mind that we don't have movies and TV series in the European iTunes store either. Because of these limitations, I don't really feel the need to get an iPad in the near future - which is sad, because I think the hardware's very exciting and I would definitely consider it if we could at least get the same content the Americans are getting.

u guys are bunch of whinners. i live in sout east asia and i will get my 1gen iPad when the rumors of 2nd gen iPad build up in this website.

No. I'm getting a relative to ship mine from US to New Zealand, and I can show it off to my jealous mates while it's not out here yet. :D

I had a great time yesterday, dipping in and out of the launch and felt a bit of the excitement that buzzed around the iPad dribble over the Atlantic to me.

... It'd be lovely to do a straight Dollar to Pound conversion but as we all know, it doesn't work like that...

I would love to see a fair Dollar -> Euro conversion for iPad prices.

Wifi+3G 32gb iPad = $729.00 = €540

This won't be the case though... We will be paying 729 euro which is 983 dollar. I HATE THAT!!

It's unfair, why are we paying so much more? Can someone explain this to me?

Well, as long as i'll be able to get a 3g version at the same time as the us, i'm fine with having to wait.

WWW != Internet.

Sorry for going off topic and whatnot, but the web is not the internet. It's a common mistake that's made by most of the population thanks to how the media reports on technology.

The World Wide Web is where websites live and what most people access on a regular basis while the internet is more a series of protocols that allow various services to function. For example, the web runs through HTTP, file transfer is handled by FTP and most internet traffic these days is through TCP/IP.

iPad in Canada

I don't know if you fellow Canadians feel like I do, but it feels like we're on the backburner once again. I mean, the US can already pre-order their iPad's and have them delivered in 2 weeks, and Apple hasn't even announced Canadian pricing!!

Not feeling left out here, made a run for Buffalo late yesterday evening to Walden Mall and picked one up. 32GB WiFi - they still have lots.

Setup was easy and apps from iPhone are working as predicted. Have not tried buying apps off the App Store but picked a US iTunes gift card to try later.

In any event I'm enjoying it.

Written on my iPad!

Nice, guy!

I did the same thing a few years ago when I bought my MacBook. At the time, the Canadian Dollar was worth more than the US Dollar, so I ended up saving a few hundred dollars on the price and tax difference.
