I have seen the rumors for the apple store but that is highly unlikely. I will likely buy from a third party reseller to avoid taxes.

Is there any reason to wait? This is my first mac and know that they hardly ever go on sale. I didn't know whether this black friday may be an exception or there were other deals such as coupons or cash back that may help lower the price.

My prediction: No way quads will be a penny cheaper than they are today on Black Friday. I get such a kick out of the fake ads going around. Yeah the mothersh:apple:p selling Macs for 25% off. That will ever happen riiiiiiiiight.

I highly doubt Apple would chance alienating (not to mention really pissing off) the full purchase price buyers from only a few weeks earlier with cheaper black friday prices (on top end models anyway). Just not the way they do business. Resellers however should have some minor discounts.

I bet the bottom rung 21.5" iMacs will have a sale price. I seriously doubt the Quad cores will be on sale.

Just as an FYI - I ordered the base quad core from Amazon on the day it was introduced. My current shipping status claims that the iMac will arrive AFTER Christmas. I wrote them an email to confirm that they gave me a bunch of "sorry for the inconvenience" nonsense. While it very well may ship before Christmas, I'm not wanting to wait. I'm headed to an Apple store this weekend.

And you won't have to wait until Black Friday to see what Apple will do. I'm sure they will release the details a few days before.

All iMacs WILL be on sale $100 off

If you just look at the last 2 years, Apple had $100 off ALL iMacs online and in store.

So wait and bag the $100.

in my case I have education discount so it works out to about the same.
The 25% discount would be awesome, and something worth waiting for since my iMac is probably not going to ship till then anyway.
But do the black friday discounts usually apply in Canada?

I don't think the 25% discount is real. But I can get an EPP discount through my employer, if they do $100 off, any chance that those will stack? Worth waiting to Black Friday to find out I think. :)

pretty sure they won't stack.
I'm also pretty sure the 25% discount won't be real.
But its less than 2 weeks away and i'll bet my iMac won't ship until a week or so anyway, so its worth waiting an extra couple of days to find out for me.
But i'm in Canada, we have had thanksgiving, do the black friday website discounts ever apply here?

It's best to wait for Friday, the prices are not going to go up, you might get some discount. I know it's three more days but "Patience pays", just my 2 cents and you never know the benefits might just be a little more than that.

its the 27th, not this Friday right?
Thats the information on wikipedia anyway!
Thats 10 days, bit of a difference from 3 days

Apple is shown a pretty consistent history of sticking it to the early adopters. You bolded comment suprises and confuses me. What leads you to belive they wouldnt try to make every dollar available to them?

What about their sales policy:

"Should Apple reduce its price on any shipped product within 14 calendar days of shipment, you may contact Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775 to request a refund or credit of the difference between the price you were charged and the current selling price. To receive the refund or credit you must contact Apple within 14 calendar days of the price change."

Would this apply to sale price on BF? Could I get a price adjustment if cheaper? Is there any way they would compound education discount with BF sale price?

That's what I thought, but a co-worker claimed that last year on BF they had 25% discounts on everything in the store and were compounding the education discount. I nodded and smiled, but in the back of my head I was thinking "no way".

What about a price adjustment if they DO happen to offer some crazy discount?

actually if you go for the i7, the education discount comes out to a better deal.. It takes 100 off the base price and its a cheaper upgrade to the i7 from the i5.

Or at least thats what i think i remember seeing.

yes but its not a better deal if that (unlikely) 25% deal happens to be true.
However I am in Canada, and no one seems to know whether or not the black friday sales actually count here anyway...

The Black friday ad is completely fake. It would be the equivalent of believing in Santa/Easter Bunny/Jesus/etc it's been proven to be fake so many times by so many people in so many ways that you'd be crazier than a crazy person to be holding out for it.

You won't find a better deal on a quad. Especially not the i7. Apple will discount anywhere between 100-101 max. Which is basically the education discount (and no they don't stack). 25% off? That's how much the employees gets.... ONCE A YEAR! You think they'd offer that kind of deal to the general public? Not to mention they've already done the price drop and rolling in sales figures, why would they essentially slash their profit margin by half? To be nice?

25% off Macs MAKES. NO. SENSE.

Go hunting around macmall/macconnections/etc they'll have the better deals in the long run. If you don't get charged taxes and don't mind waiting on rebates.

I do agree.
But its not like I NEED the iMac right now, so waiting an extra 9 days even on the 1% chance that i'll save $100 is worth it for me...probably not worth it for most other people!

Again, the macmall/macconnections thing doesn't work in Canada, they will only ship to the US. And they only do the i5 right?
I'm kinda partial to the i7...

Figured you would have done your research if you are so partial and interested in the i7. Yes, MacMall has the i7.

but there's a 100% chance you can save $100 (via rebate, plus another 3% instant discount) at macmall now.

so basically, you're waiting 10 more days to see if you'll save more than ~$160 on an i7.

even more savings if you also don't have to pay sales tax.

I tried buying from them.
But as i've mentioned about 5 times in this thread, I live in Canada.
No resellers I have talked to will carry the i7, any resellers in the US that do won't ship here.
