yes but its not a better deal if that (unlikely) 25% deal happens to be true.
However I am in Canada, and no one seems to know whether or not the black friday sales actually count here anyway...

25% ad is fake, even so, the fake ad says up to... which means, anything you actually want to buy is nowhere near 25% off. but again, its fake.

I still think if you want the i7, the education discount is the way to go. cheaper then just 100 off a la black friday.

yeah thats what i've ordered.
the rate things are going mine won't have shipped by black friday anyway so at least i'll be able to cancel and re-order if the specials happen to be cheaper...

What about their sales policy:

"Should Apple reduce its price on any shipped product within 14 calendar days of shipment, you may contact Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775 to request a refund or credit of the difference between the price you were charged and the current selling price. To receive the refund or credit you must contact Apple within 14 calendar days of the price change."

Would this apply to sale price on BF? Could I get a price adjustment if cheaper? Is there any way they would compound education discount with BF sale price?

I was in the Apple Store yesterday and the rep told me that if we bought right now, then we could request the difference between the price now and the BF price since it falls within the 14 calendar days (he brought it up without any prompting).

And, seconding what was already stated above, the rep also said that you either choose the ed. discount or the BF discount (if there is one).

Lastly, for the upgrades/addons we are looking to make on 27" Quad, it very much looks to me that the student discount is the best way to go. We're going for the i5 to i7 upgrade, iWork preinstalled, the remote, and AppleCare (don't know if I really want AC, but that's not up for debate in my house) --> $2336 (a VERY assumed BF drop of $100 from original price of $2436) vs. $2258 (student discount) before taxes. I looked into the ADC Student discounts, too...it would be worth it if I were already a member, but is not worth it since I would need to plunk down the $99 to join ($2209 before taxes with the ADC discount for the options we would select).

I know it's a pipe dream but if, indeed, there's a 25% discount I'm jumping on the i7...

There's no way there will be a 25% discount because that would be $500 off the base quad core 27" iMac and Apples website would be crashed within 2 minutes of going live.

Take this with a grain of salt. Just came back from best buy here in NE Houston. They had the price signage for the i5 however, when I asked for availability, I was told black Friday. The sales rep then followed up stating that the iMacs including the i5 will been included in their black Friday sale. He could not offer up the details. I do find it odd they have the units in stock but not available to purchase.

I haven't seen anything confirming this. I for one am waiting out to see what stores do offer for BF. Sure, I could order online, but i want it this week... and Wednesday is pay day. :)

I know it isn't Black Friday yet, but my local Best Buy had the 21.5" and 27" C2D on sale for $100 off. Kind of surprised me.

The Black friday ad is completely fake. It would be the equivalent of believing in Santa/Easter Bunny/Jesus/etc it's been proven to be fake so many times by so many people in so many ways that you'd be crazier than a crazy person to be holding out for it.

Dude, what's your beef with Jesus?
