I was so close to picking up an extra 3G today to sell on eBay, but in all the excitement, I kinda forgot! I think you'll make a nice little profit from those.
depending on where it's sold to, it's close to $100 ROI on each one after shipping and ebay fees :) not great, bout not too shabby either.

Not worth it IMO. I rather use the extra money to upgrade to a 32gb or 64gb non 3g model.
to each his own. i don't put any music on mine (that's what my 32gb iphone is for) and stream the majority of my vids using airvideo. a 16gb suits my needs just fine :)

I preorderd a 32GB iPad Wifi because I knew I'd never be able to wait an extra month for a 3G. It was delivered on April 3rd. I absolutely love it but I hated having to rely on Wifi so I started researching the Sprint Overdrive and the Verizon MiFi 2200. I was gonna get an Overdrive but Sprint doesn't offer 4G here yet (Cincinnati, OH) so I went with the Verizon MiFi. I ended up getting at a mall Verizon kiosk. The guy gave it to me for $75 plus no activation plus a $50 mail in rebate so I got the actual unit for $25. I am bummed about spending $60/month rather than AT&T's $29/month with the 3G.

As the 3G launch grew near I started questioning my decision because how there is a 5GB monthly cap with the Verizon MiFi and no limit with AT&T. I called my Apple store today and asked if I could exchange my Wifi iPad for a 3G even though I was past the 14 day return policy. The worker asked his manager and said they'd make an exception for me but I had to pay a 10% restocking fee. I was really contemplating on doing it but it would have cost me $198 after the restocking fee and buying the 32GB iPad 3G.

After much debate I ultimately decided to stick with the Wifi. The thing that made the decision so much easier was looking at AT&T's 3G coverage compared to Verizon. Its like night and day. AT&T barely has 3G coverage here where Verizon has it everywhere. I know I'm spending an extra $30/month on the MiFi but its worth having more coverage and after hearing about all the restrictions on the 3G iPad like downgraded Youtube, no ABC Player, etc....I'm even more happy with my decision

Sorry for the wall o text, hope my story has encouraged more to stay with the Wifi iPad! :)

Yeah i take that back. I keep forgetting the 3g models sport a gps chip as well. I've been thinking about it lately, and I might have to sell my iPad for a 3g one. I'm gonna be traveling in the summer and the GPS might come in handy.

That is one of the reasons I upgraded. When traveling I have found it is more difficult than I thought to find free reliable WiFi. It has been been spotty in hotels that offer it and some don't offer it at all. I like to go to Las Vegas and I don't think any of the large hotels have WiFi. I also plan on taking several weekend trips to the beach and there usually isn't WiFi there either. It is also nice to have the 3G when waiting at the airport.

Upgrade? It's a downgrade in my eyes :)

LOL JK. Happy with my cleaner, lighter WiFi.

That's how I see it. Since I can tether to my iPhone and get data anywhere. Like I am right now riding around in my brothers truck. The 3g model has at&t's restrictions and the wifi model tethered doesn't. Also I only pay for one data plan.

For those 130USD you can order a mifi which is way better then the 3G in the ipad. The mifi you can lay it to a windows for good results and you can sit meters from it.

If you do it for the GPS, just wait for the jailbreak and order a tool which connects a GPS mouse to the ipad. Then you have everything sorted out, with minimal use of your ipad battery.

I bought a 64 wifi and liked it so much I stood in line to get a 3G last night and now our household has both. We don't have wifi at our summer cottage so this will be perfect.

Exactly! I have no problem with the ABC app over MyWi from my iPhone 3G - looks great and is quick.

I didn't jailbreak my iPhone until yesterday and now I'm amazed more people currently paying for AT&T on the iPhone don't do the same if they own an iPad. The jailbreak process is so much quicker and streamlined than in the past. In about twenty minutes I was up and running and sharing my iPhone's 3G for a grand total of a flat $10. Yes it drains the phones battery but I've found it's much easier to find an electrical socket than it is free wifi :D

My GPS location is correct and accurate when tethered to my iPhone, although it doesn't update in quick intervals, it does the job.

1) Requires contract or $60/mo w/ no contract. No contract also requires a $230 MiFi. Might be a better deal IF you have a laptop and need 3G for that too or already have a MiFi account, otherwise you are not saving any money.

2) Something else to carry around, something else to charge.

Here in Holland i can get prepaid internet for around 12USD a month. And the mifi is available for 100USD on Ebay. And yes, something else to charge, you are right, but for me no problem.

im still waiting

still waiting to get an iPad in canada... I went to the US to see if i could pick one up but they are sold out everywhere...
