The iPad mini and iPads are just larger iPhones with zero added functionality...

This isn't entirely true - iPad specific apps often add functionality over their iPhone specific counterparts. Its part of what makes the iPad so much better than Android tablets. There are hundreds of thousands of apps out there built to take advantage of the larger display.

So while the home screen doesn't change, the experience on an iPad can be quite different than that of the iPhone.

Gotta stop thinking in Android terms.....On Android devices, the OS does as much as possible. So changes in the OS are felt more. Whereas on iOS devices, the OS is simply a holder for Apps - which hold the real power. One's experience in Android is dictated by the OS. Whereas the experience one has on and iOS device is dictated by the apps.

At least, this has been my experience.

As for the thread's topic, I don't think I'd ever want a phone that large. The HTC One was big enough (and a great device). That being said, the Note line is the only MAJOR smartphone line I haven't tried.....I'm set on Nexus devices being my go-to Android smartphones....perhaps though I'll pick up a Note at some point to see what all the fuss is about.

I really just HATE Touchwiz.....

It makes perfect sense for those like me who really like the One but wish it had a larger display. Samsung actually made TWO larger S4s and did nothing but make them larger. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 and 6.3 are just larger versions of the Galaxy S4 but Samsung gimped them with horribly outdated internals and bad quality displays. I give HTC a ton of credit for keeping the same internals and giving the Max an awesome display. Again, what do you expect HTC to do with the Max? What did you want them to add? The iPad mini and iPads are just larger iPhones with zero added functionality...

Add some software enhancements for that larger screen.

Nope. Because the Max is a half assed device. They made basically no upgrades over the One.

The Note 3 is a superior device to the GS4 in many ways. HTC has gotten lazy.

Did HTC even bother including a one-handed mode with the Max? You know how some phablets allow you to set it where the keyboard is smaller and in the corner to allow for easier one handed typing, etc.

I actually think the Max could have been a great phone had they stopped at 5.5" for the screen. 5.9" is too large especially considering how heavy this damn thing is.
