So I didn't buy iPhone X (10) because of the notch. Although someone else told me in here that I still would be lining up when the phone opens. I can't say I'm not excited to see what the new phone looks like but the notch is seriously bothering me still. It maybe petty but for a $1200 phone, I don't think there should be any sacrifices in what you like in it.
I am waiting for iPhone 11, I am hoping that they will solve this notch problem by then.
Well you made a poor decision because it is literally notch a problem for anyone. The notch fades away during use and is a complete non-issue in the real world.

Hmm…
Sitting on the fence doesn’t work well with Apple products. You run the risk of buying the product unless you can actively identify a feature that you can hate!!

Life Tip: All things, and particularly, consumer products, are going to have issues - it's up to you whether you're always disappointed
But I am not always disappointed. You didn’t read my previous post. I am happy with MBA 2014, 2017 and with all my previous iPhones since 3GS which btw was my first iPhone.

While not the only reason, because of the notch design and screen width, the usable area of the X was less than my current 7+. I just wasn't satisfied with what I found.

Between now and next year, I am looking at other options.

For apps that hasn't supported the notch yet another app got approved yesterday called "notch remover" I haven't tried it yet but if anyone would like to give a review could be useful

Im convinced that the notch is 100% Jony Ive. Its an intentional design aesthetic that exists to be an identity because with Apple nowadays then Form >>>>> Function.

That said. I never minded it. Sure, life would be easier without the notch since "A little bezel never hurt anyone", but dealing with stupid user-hostile design decisions is part of being an Apple customer. So you have to either live with it or get out.

Personally, I am hoping for an iPhone 9 series. Modernize the iPhone 8 design by shrinking bezels but retaining TouchID and implementing off-screen FaceID. Then you got a winner that builds on 10 years of design that "Just Works" but also introduce new tech that moves the platform forward.

To be clear, this app just makes wallpaper images. It does not modify anything about the OS that would affect the aesthetics outside of the home/lock screens. You can achieve the same effect with 1000s of free wallpaper images ...

You have 3 options going forward:

1. Holdout with your current for who knows how long because most think that notch is here for a bit
2. Get an Android that fits your style
3. Tryout the notch and realize its really not that big of a deal (my opinion)

Bit pointless then lol I haven't checked it out only seen an article which I didn't even read and thank god I didn't now otherwise it would of been a waste of time lol. Thanks

It's down to personal preference and if people are happy with the notch then I'm fine with that, but I just know that I would be forever looking at it and getting annoyed by it (which may not be a logical reaction, but who said humans had to be logical all the time!).

Also, while I like my Apple gear I'm not emotionally attached to it to the extent I am prepared to "get used" to something that I feel shouldn't be there so for me, the answer is simple - if next year's iPhones have notches in them, then I won't buy one of those either!

Notch doesn't bother me at all. You can just zoom out the video and photo if you like. Then download that notch remover.

Initially I was concerned about the notch, but like most have said, it’s not really an issue. It just seems to blend in after using the phone for a while. I do like to form factor over my 7 plus it replaced.

Still don't think he actively planned for it... They missed a chance to shrink the top bezel last year... Having a thin bezel now would have been copying S8..
But hey! When you have the power of Apple brand you can get away with murder!

I don't like it. Not really looking for problems but more so hoping that things will change. Not everything that Apple makes is perfects. New MBP 2017 has lots of issue, just search the forums. On the other hand I loved their 2014 MBA so much that I got 2017 MBA 13 inch just recently. I love their iPhone line andI can't imagine working on a droid. I just don't like iPhone X. It's more of a taste than anything else. And it bothers me.

So don't buy the X buy the 8+ you will love it

Like the murder of TouchID.

Its always interesting to watch the way Apple "fans" turn into cannibals whenever a new feature come out. A physical home button was fine for years but then capacitive comes out and they act as if we were suffering with that old real click. Because, you know, "A capacitive TouchID is the future". And now FaceID comes out and these same people act as if the faster/reliable/versatile TouchID button is "old tech" that deserved to die.

Anyway, I think if they were going to put a notch on the top of the screen they should have put a notch at bottom too for TouchID. Sure, its not as clean as a slim bezel but "Symmetry is everything".

100% next year’s phone will still have the exact same notch. Only there will be two phone sizes to choose from.

The notch will be gone eventually. The goal is of course an all screen phone with zero bezels. The tech just wasn’t practical yet. We won’t see it for atleast 2 more years maybe more.

I have been getting the newest iPhone upon release every year since the iPhone 6. Not this year. The notch/ears was the deciding factor in not getting the iPhone X. If Apple insists on not hiding the notch next year, I will forgo the newest iPhone again. In the meantime, I will watch what Samsung offers with the S9 and the Note 9.

I was waiting for IPhone x but the Notch disappointed me. I don't want to spend 1000 dollars on a phone that I don't like. I wonder if that's the reason IPhone sale is down. I finally bought 1Plus5t and very happy with it.If apple releases a phone with big screen and no Notch I will buy it again but not one with the Notch.

It’s really only annoying if you stare at it in photos. In use, it disappears.

It doesn’t disappear you just get used to it. Kind of like a crooked tooth or mole.

Yeah, I'll go on record to say there will _not_ be a no-notch design next year.

There’s still hope for the iPhone 9. Much thinner forehead and chin but with Face ID.

I'm running an iphone 6s and didn't upgrade for a few reasons:

- 6s is fast enough
- 3.5mm jack
- I don't like big phones, and the height of the X is a turnoff.
