how is everyone getting these low bills? I just payed my 1st bill 238.22 .... one phone on plan. I should look into that.

Here's how mine breaks out: (remember, this recent bill doesn't have anything iPhone related on it yet.)

39.98 - monthly service charges (my voice plan)
1.79 - home charges (directory assistance)
0.72 - other charges and credits (regulated cost recovery charge)
0.50 - surcharges and credits (911 service fee)
1.52 - texas universal service
2.87 - state sales tax
0.55 - texas infrastructure fund reimbursement
1.51 - federal universal service charge
0.46 - city special purpose district tax
0.46 - city sales tax
2.99 - roadside assistance
-2.99 - discount (for combined billing)

TOTAL - $50.36

I'm expecting that the bill one month from now will be pretty much the same, except for an extra $20 for the iPhone unlimited data plan, whatever the activation fee is, and whatever the increased sales tax comes to.

I can't imagine having a $238 bill???

Guess I should check in since I started the thread after all. After all the activations and partial month payments on my first bill it looks like my normal bill will be around $65-67, which is actually just about $5.00 more than what I was paying for my old bare bones Verizon account with some extra texting and the insurance and NO Internet access. I haven't received my second bill quite yet.

My bill came out to be a total of $195, here's my situation:

My parents already are on a 2 line family plan, whatever the cheapest one was, $70 they pay per month after taxes and everything. I switched over from tmobile to ATT when I got my iphone. So I had to call them up and have them add me to my parent's plan. I also upgraded the plan to the 1400 minute one. According to me, my bill should be around $120/month before taxes... and about $130 or so after taxes... i'm not sure how it came out to be $195. I thought the 1400 plan was $100 a month... since we hav e 3 lines in our plan... how do they break it down? is it divided evenly by 3? or does each line have a certain amount they have to pay?

I'm very confused, if someone can please shed some light and help me understand my bill i'd appreciate it greatly.

Anyone else not get charged the $36 activation fee? My first month's bill just came in and it totalled $87.56. I have the 450 anytime minutes and the 1500 text message w/ unlimited data plan. Not that I'm complaining or anything...
just got my first bill with the iphone on it and no activation fee, was about the same as your cost.

Well, let's see now.

Base plan: $100
2 additional lines: $20
iPhone plan: $20
Activation: $36
Taxes and fees: $19

Total: $196

I think you lucked out, since taxes and fees has always come out to 20% for me

I just got my bill and it was like $42 more than normal.

Looking at it though, I was pro-rated from 6/29 to 7/23 so I had an extra 16.27 + ~$4.00 in taxes on there.

So my bill was accurate.
