Knowing when to sell, the hardest decision in all of investing....
Awhile ago, I bought an electronic trading stock, ICE, on sheer gut feeling at 100. I purchased strictly to see if I had the discipline the old "sell if it goes above 15% or below 8%". I sold it at 117, it zooomed to 160 or so in the next few weeks, and is hovering around 137, according to my Dashboard. I still keep it on my Dashboard as a cautionary tale. Still seeking wisdom.......

Don't beat yourself up about it -- you showed discipline, and made money. Hard to argue with the results. One common strategy is to sell portions of the stock, enough to cover the original investment if possible, and continue to play with the "house's money." This hasn't worked very well for me. Years ago I bought 100 shares of ORCL. It spilt twice, I sold about half, easily covering my initial investment. Years later I still have 300 shares of the stock, which have gone exactly nowhere for so long I can't recall. Dead money.

Let me know when you locate wisdom. Maybe you'll find enough to share. ;)
