I bet the resale value of the X is lower than it should be because it’s a first gen redesign. A lot of people don’t like the idea of buying into it when they haven’t even put their hands on one yet.

iOS 12 is better than iOS 11 on the iP10. Mine is scratch free. 256 GB. Battery has been well taken care of. I should be able to sell mine for $200 to 300 at the very most less than retail price. The A11 is a beast and will have a long life of support. I can’t really understand why it is selling at the prices they’re selling for when the 2018 models will just have slight upgrades... but people get sucked into their smart marketing ploys and sales pitches.

It’s crazy to me iPhones lose $400 and tax on the full amount in a year or ... in case of X less than a year. That’s the norm now. That’s why I didn’t wanna sell my 7plus and get mid 400 for a $879 phone that still works great

But if you are gonna upgrade anyways better return than an android. The golden resell days are over though with depreciation and a saturated market

It paid off my fairly new Verizon iPhone 8 Plus. That's all I wanted.

I think if you have locked in yearly upgrade fever regardless of what comes out, even with innovation slowing and all, then IUP makes total sense cause you just about lose that in resell anyways, what it would cost you to get rid of
Your device and upgrade. And you have flexibility to buy out, AC+ baked in, and lower payments to lessen the blow of a 1000+ dollar phone.

Apple was smart in offering that

The alternative strategy of buying outright and selling or holding and deciding later makes sense too...

I also shattered my 7plus screen days before getting x , and shelled
Out almost $200 for an official screen replacement at the Apple store, so at that point net resell value seemed not worth it vs just holding on as a backup / mini video watching device that isn’t my iPad for around the house / not using battery a ton on my x
Before heading out the door... sorta thing

I still mess around with my 7plus quite a lot to be honest even tho X is my
Daily
And I generally prefer it by a good amount. Better feel, screen, a bit zipper, etc
