Well, I am already up and running and everything imported from LP! Had to re-do form fills, but that's ok. I like the UI. Questions:

- is there not an "open vault" from the browser extension that launches a web interface or do you just have to use the application (for Windows and Mac) to interface powerfully with it?

- I installed the Windows application and Chrome plugin on my work Windows machine
- App and Safari installed on MBP
- App on iPhone

Anything else I should know?

Been 12 hours but I think I’m sold on 1Password. Canceling LP today. Guessing my year in full won’t be prorated for refund? Goes until August.
[doublepost=1521716833][/doublepost]Still looking for a way to launch "My Vault" from the Chrome or Safari extension. Not a huge deal, but I got used this from the LP extension?

Are you saying to open the extension in safari on a Mac and put in your master password in that and not launching the actual app itself?

I started having problems with LastPass last year - similar to what you've explained. I had coworkers and friends with similar problems. When I couldn't get a needed password when I was out and about with my iPhone that was the last straw -- switched to 1Password. It is much happier with Safari - and works well on Windows on my work machine. It's a little bit more expensive but I've got my wife and several family members on the family plan. A lot happier and it is a lot more consistent at remembering / filling in passwords.
Same here. I did love how cheap LastPass was, but I always found it a little clunky. Now I'm sharing a family plan with my wife, who's not very tech-oriented, and 1Password works nicely for her. The subscription price is... on the higher side, but frankly if the purchase price gets me out of having to help her figure out even a few lost passwords a year, it's absolutely worth it to me :)

1Password has gift cards. The one they are selling a $125 for $99

And I feel the same way about paying the subscription price. I have my mom (who locks herself out, and because of the subscription, I got her back in), my daughter, wife, and father in law on the plan.

Nice! I am on it. I am hoping they charges start after my 30 day trial if I do it now.

Sorry, probably not being clear. With Last Pass, when you clicked the extension in the toolbar, it would drop down with a list of option/actions. One was "Open Vault". Selecting this launched a new tab and brought you to the web interface where you could manage, search, copy passwords, etc.

Since I posted, I discovered there is a web interface, but I can't find a way to automatically launch it from the extension. I could of course just bookmark it to the toolbar. When I first asked the question, I was hoping the only was to power manage the password database was not having to only use the installed APP.

If you used LastPass, you would know what I mean. Sometimes site didn't find the right entry and I would launch the web interface, find it, and copy and paste. Hope this makes sense.

Nice, thank you. Request for refund submitted and $125 for $99 applied to my new 1Password account.

No luck with refund, oh well - from LP:

Hi there,

We can only issue refunds within 30 days of payment. We recommend using the time left for your subscription and it will automatically be switched to Free plan once it expires.

Best,

I used LastPass before and the hacks scandal pushed me to jump off its ship.
I am using Cyclonis password manager (https://www.cyclonis.com/products/password-manager/). Except for no mobile app now (I sync the password vault on iCloud and it's not a big problem for that), its app and integrated browser extension works great. Plus, it's free without any premium version for now.

Looks solid never heard of it though. I don’t mind paying for a known product when it comes to security. iOS integration is important for me too.

Never had the problem you're having and have been using it for years. I will note, that I do not use the binary extension version on the last pass site, only the one from the Apple Extension Gallery. I also have the full app installed on my MBP and my iMac. (I recall lastpass being down for a day a while back and not being able to access stuff, so I like having a vault saved.)

I will say, their customer support is kind of a joke, whether you're a premium user or not. Also, I hate that when I clear the history of Safari, my browser extension logs out. I used to be able to bypass that by locking the db files, but it no longer works.

The price of 1Password seems steep in comparison.

I’m certainly not bashing LP after 7-8 years of premium use. I have found getting tech support was cumbersome. A lot of cut and pastes of the usual stuff I already did and noted in my ticket.

I’m terms of pricing I can’t even remember what I was paying annually. I thought if was in the $30 range which is similar to 1Password - $35 a year doesn’t sound steep to me and there is a $125 for $99 out there.

I’m sold. The software seems to be much more developed and certainly more intuitive. I thought LP was always cluncky but it worked until the two Safari issues I had and support sucked.
