Wow you have a lot of guts trying this yourself. When I said glass cutter I meant a professional glass cutting person.

I can't even comprehend wanting matte over glossy. It's like HD vs some old analog display settings.

Haha dont worry you haven't put this idea in my head, i have been meaning to do it since i first took apart my iMac last month to remove the failing super drive. Ok update on the screen. I have given up on cutting the screen using the tool i bought so its tougher than i first though. In the mean time i have been using my iMac without the front on since friday and its far better for general use, viewing films and even playing games.
I have The Sims 3 and i usually cant play it for more than an hour without my eyes starting to ache but after removing the glossy screen i spent 4 hours yesterday early evening playing it and i am addicted now! The problem is that i was after buying a new iMac when they are released as i am having too many problems with various components on this one, but i don't think i could go back to a glossy iMac. Im really hoping they offer a matte screen option on the new ones, along with an i7 chip.

This is my iMac at the moment with no glass front on. I was cutting the middle out of the glass so that i could just keep the black border. However i cant seem to remove the glass centre and im a little worried about breaking it by pushing it too hard. I might try and get a bigger/better glass cutter and try again at weekendCan agree with that....... Sprays are a disaster, it's almost impossible to get an even coating and the clarity and opacity get screwed up. This reminds me of the mirror window film for the back of wooden wardrobes door's (seriously, does anyone fall for these con products). Then there's the masking off of exposed vents and areas not intended for spraying, if any of the spray does get into the device then the warranty may go with it.
