I've changed my mind (for the final time)... I decided to cancel my WiFi order, and order the 3G model instead. The $130 is pretty inconsequential, and I would have been upset with myself the first time that I wanted to turn on 3G during a trip. I also wanted the GPS. It will be worth the wait.

Jim, yeah, that 30 day extra wait will be worth it to me as well. I just know there will be times where I'll be like, damn I wish I had 3G on this thing :).

As for using a tethering solution, that doesn't work for me. MyWi takes up way to much battery power for my liking :).

So I'll stick it out for 30 days without an iPad instead of having an iPad for a 335 days without 3G ;-)

Went 3G as well. Probably won't use the 3G much but having the option + GPS is nice. I have a MiFi that I carry with me (most of the time), so having service shouldn't be a problem

WOW - Living outside of the US we're very lucky. Don't have to make the decision - we get to wait for either one!

I want 3G - but tethered from my iPhone - may continue to wait and see if Steve softens on his no tether stance.

(The telco here is fine with it - so it's just a Steve / Apple issue from my perspective)

Same here lol Apple have not even released the UK prices yet, so don't even know how much more expensive the 3G version will be over the WiFi only version. I think having the extra option of 3G is nice and waiting an additional 30 days or so isn't the end of the world.

Well... I spoke too soon. It looks like both my daughter and my wife will be wanting an iPad.... so:

1) I just ordered a 32GB WiFi (arrives on 4/3) to use for the next month... then it goes to my wife.
2) I kept my order for my 64GB 3G which will be mine for the next year
3) I'll get the Gen 2 next year... and waterfall a unit to my daughter.

Hahahah reading threw this thread was hilarious for me. I realize how schizophrenic i am. I ordered a 64GB WiFi. All of my previous points are still valid, except that i'll probably be in that "rare use" of 3G group. So I decided I can do without the 3G due to the fact I have MyWi on my 3GS and I got the 64GB of space. So when I can't get on the net, I should be reading the books and using the media on it, but always in a pinch I can tether to my 3GS.

I realize how psychotic I am.

BTW someone said that the MyWi battery drains even when you have the phone plugged in. Last week I did a test for myself to confirm, and actually my battery was increasing with tethering and having it plugged into a computer and not even a wall socket. So I wasn't sure what that was about. My phone was actually charging when I was using MyWi and not draining as previous statements said that I have seen on the net.
