I already have a real computer to play games on, so if I wanted to buy a Mini it would be the base model.

But for someone whose only desktop is the Mini then I'd most likely recommend the model with the 6630M.

Same situation here. The built-in Intel integrated GPU is enough to push HD content which is probably the toughest thing I would throw at it.

I don't know what it is, I really have no need for a Mini at all, but I am seduced by it ... I just want to pick up a base model, throw in 8GB of RAM, a 1TB HDD and use it to store movies and music in the living room.

However, it is a totally unnecessary expense and I have other priorities. Sometimes it sucks being a geek, we spend too much money on computing/entertainment equipment.

I went for the discrete GPU, even though I perhaps didn't need it. Don't like Intel graphics. Don't trust them.

Dropped in an SSD and loving it. Comfortably handles anything I throw at it.

Happy Days!

Like many others I purchased the base model (Amazon w/$50 off) and also grabbed 8GB RAM at under $50 and put it in myself, easy peasy. My MacPro is my main machine, the mini is attached to my Samsung HDTV. Its job is to watch Hulu and Netflicks.

799 mini

I went to best buy to purchase the base 599 model and noticed the 799 was discounted $150, it was a open box. They also gave me 10% off. Total cost from Chula Vista BB was $620 OTD. If not for the discount I would have purchased base model. :apple:

Man I whish I had your willpower! I spent a lot of money on a 13" MBA a couple of months ago, with the intention of it being my only computer while studying. Now I'm awaiting a base Mac mini for media/desktop purposes. The 8GB RAM upgrade has already arrived

I've made a promise to myself not to sell any of my macs within the first 3 years now (unless I'm starving or something). Selling tech to get the latest and greatest is a really bad habit
