Anyone else becoming frustrated by lack of progress w/ iOS?

Also, androids new generative AI features in Android 14 are phenomenal along with magic eraser. Where is that apple?

This is one thing I hope Apple stays away from or baked into the hardware or software level. I'm okay with leaving it to Adobe Photoshop or other third party apps.

I think that real productivity is truly impossible on all smartphones. Productivity to me = a keyboard and mouse. I try to use my phone as little as possible.

Yeah, of course we need DeX. It would change a lot...
But then again, maybe it wouldn't. Apple's version of DeX would never be MacOS. It would probably just be like iPadOS. And as we know, iPadOS is hardly better than iOS for true productivity and complex tasks.

Those are features a very small percentage of people would use regularly. The beauty of iOS is in it’s simplicity, clean UI and user friendly experience. Feature bloat is the antithesis of that. It sounds like Android is the OS for you

Personally I wouldn’t want Youtube integration or generative AI in photos 🤷🏼‍♀️ and the Youtube integration in Android is probably there because Google owns Youtube

Alright, how about the ability to correct a dial number with a cursor in the phone app ? Because now you need to erase the full number

iOS is far from perfect but, I enjoy using it versus the tripe found elsewhere.

IOS does NOT have a lack of progress. It's a different progression than android or other phone operating systems. That progression is tight integration with other apple hardware and apple services.

This does not mean ios can't be improved in other ways but imo there isn't a lack of progress in IOS.

After using a work android device, I’m continually frustrated by not being able to do the same simple tasks on iOS. iPhone hardware is truly excellent but the software is just so limiting. Anyone else on the verge of switching to android simply because their productivity on that OS is far better and less frustrating? Any hope that iOS 18 actually contains real improvements that make life easier for a power/business user?

Hey if Android suits your current needs better right now then you should certainly switch - it’s a great OS, stable and supported.

I don’t feel that iOS is going to change much, just iterating at a gradual pace. That’s ok for a lot of people but you seem maybe better served by Android. No biggie really.

I hope Apple stays away from the generative AI BS. As someone who enjoys taking pictures (either by my DSLR or the iPhone), I am strongly against "generating" photos or manipulating them into oblivion with AI.

Yeah, go ahead and try to set it to automatically connect based on a specific Wi-Fi network. You can’t. Something so simple in android yet limited in iOS. Dumb.

Sure you can. I have my VPN activate whenever I connect to the Starbucks WiFi for example using a combination of personal automation and shortcuts. As of this year, you can do this without being notified.

I understand what you are asking here. But this is really the fundamental difference between iOS and Android. Android is always going to let you do more things than Apple will let you do with iOS. This is a meta-feature in itself. Extensibility vs privacy/security.
