I keep it in my right pocket, facing every which way, upwards, downwards, even sideways and slantways as well.

Mostly downward facing and screen facing outward.

Who walks into sharp, hard or pokey things at pocket height with sufficient force to damage a glass screen through 2 or more layers of cloth?

Such as - (to oneself) "There's a door handle, I'm going to try to open that door without turning the handle by slamming my upper thigh into it as hard as I can."

I'm a teacher and spend my day walking by chairs and desks that are at perfect height to break my screen if I bump into them, which I do quite often.

haha! I love this thread!

I am right-handed so:

  • It goes into my left, inside, jacket pocket power-button up and screen toward me
  • or (without a jacket) power button down in my right trouser pocket, screen facing inwards, so that when I pull it out it is already in my hand the right way around.

Note that I've always put my phones glass-in, since the early days of people panicking about being microwaved to death. I assumed that as I would be holding it to my head display-in, the designers would have ensured the antenna radiation pattern is mostly outwards, if there's a sided-ness at all.

Plus, it's helpfully coincidental that the screen is unlikely to be damaged this way.

I think I hold the OCD trump card.

Left pocket because keys are in the right pocket
Screen to the leg
On/Off down, unless the earbuds are in and talking/listening

Ok... when texting... or in landscape in general
Home button to the left or the right?

Right pocket, screen inward, on/off down.

And home button to the right while texting. Nothing makes me crazier than an app whose lansdscape mode is the opposite!

Want some fries with that OCD? Yep! :D

Exact same here with a Barely There case from case-mate for a little extra security while keep it slim.

LOL, now that I think of it, yes. Unless I have headphones in, which is rare.

Unrelated but I was at the mall the other day and I actually say this guy with his iphone in a holster on his WRIST. He answered a call and just held his wrist up to his face. I LOLed.

Right pocket, speaker facing upwards, screen towards leg when walking. Purely because I have a stainless steel multitool thing on a carabiner on my right belt loop, and that has a tendency to swing around and hit the iPhone. The screen would probably be fine pointing outwards, but it will definitely be fine pointing in. ;)

Either that, or it lives in an inside jacket pocket. There's a rather nice one in my ski jacket, plenty of space for the phone and some headphones.

I don't. I find it more ergomic to pull it out with the sleep-wake button facing upwards, when it is facing down it feels weighted improperly in my pocket.

Screen NOT facing towards the leg.
Sleep button UP.

Lol. Just because I want to see the time quick without taking the iPhone out.
