Anyone else getting this iMessage bug on the latest beta?

iOS 27 has been pretty stable so far. I've found one really annoying bug and I'm curious if I'm the only one that's seeing this. When I go to tap the iMessage bubble to pop up my keyboard to type, nothing happens initially. I need to hit the bubble two times for it to initiate. At first I thought this was the OS being slow, but I don't think it's registering the touch if you hit the bubble directly after the screen changes over. It's like there's a few second delay before iOS lets you initiate your keyboard.

I did not experience this on iOS 26, it was immediately noticeable.

Yes. Doesn’t seem like lag but it could be.

I tested on my gf’s old iphone 11 on an older iOS version. No issues.

Also reinstalled iOS 27 on my phone and it has the same behavior with empty chats.

I can reproduce it on my 17PM, but only when I immediately tap the bubble after opening a chat. If I wait a little it works like it should

Not only You have that bug, me too, and it shows to re-enter my password to imessage.

That’s it. On older iOS versions you never had to wait. This is new and annoying on iOS 27. Reminds me of the issue when iOS wouldn’t let you open an app right away and had to wait for the animation to complete before it would register your touch.

I suppose this simply is a beta quirk... give it time 🙂

Oh I will hah.

People experiencing it on newer devices means that it’s not because my iPhone 15 is “a few years old”, which is what I worry about with Apple devices given their past.

I came here to see if newer devices were impacted, and it seems they are. I’m sure it will get cleared up.
