No need to wait any longer if you need a MBP...

Interpretation this comment, and interpretation that comment from Youtubers or other individuals, is not evidence that it won’t happen. I’ll wait until next month.

I bought a 16" Macbook Pro but I have the right to return it tomorrow, does it only come with the m2 pro upgrade ? Notebook weight and thickness change?
Appleinsider link a comment an analysis.
I'm undecided.

In all likelihood its just a spec bump, i.e., M1->M2. No other changes.

Depending on what you use the laptop for, it may or may not be advisable to return the M1 and wait for the M2.

Here's my two cents, if you need the up most performance now, then wait. The new laptops most likely will be more expensive, and you'll only be seeing something like 10% maybe a bit more in performance. If the M1 is plenty fast, then keep it

Ok, So, will there be any changes in the main body of the Macbook Pro ? For example, the main body is thinning due to the new m2 pro? or Oled display update ?
Sold for $2599, how much do you think it would be?

To my knowledge, Apple has never updated the design of the MBP in one year, and in the following year re-updated it. Think about the start up costs, to get the manufactoring process ready for the new design. The tooling alone is expensive, and then just throw that away and redo it all the following year? No, Apple will stick with the same design for a few years. They tend to stick with a design 4 to 5 years.

M2 Pro for sure, Oled - who knows. I'd vote no, but it is a possibility.

It appears price increases were mostly felt in the non-US regions but again its anyone's guess.

Without apple confirming what they will do, this is all speculation - we can take some level of common sense and prior history to say what they probably won't do, but its anyone's guess at what they will do

I just checked microcenter website and there is a very good deal with exactly the specifications that I want for $3,199.99 but for pickup only, no delivery. I'm in Florida, so there is no store in Florida. Is safe to buy Apple from B&H Store? I have never bought anything from them.
The only concern I’d have about buying from B&H, is - be certain you’re not going to change your mind. Computers are excluded from their return policy.

For sure, since Apple is releasing the 14" and 16" Mbp next year and the chances for 3nm are getting higher

If there was ever a case that proves the "buy the computer you need when you need it" rule, it's this one. People spent a lot of time this year pining for a laptop that wasn't coming out before the holidays. Sure, some of these people probably weren't even in need of a MacBook Pro, but some of them were, and maybe even had a laptop on its last legs they were looking to replace. It's that second group that gets screwed in situations like this, and I don't mean by Apple, I mean by FOMO.

I wanna wait but the odds of a price increase scares me off. The most important thing that drives me to invest in a Pro is that my 16/256 M1 MBA screen is just too small. It makes my posture get worse and affects productivity because I either need to lean forward frequently to read or zoom in more than I'd like to - which is counterproductive for side by side windows. I love it otherwise. No noise, no high temps, no excessive weight, excellent battery life... If only the screen was a bit bigger.

Do you guys think the price difference worth it to get a 16 inch MBP or 14 inch would be a better value? Same specs. Europe.
If you're having trouble seeing the M1 MBA then I would get the 16" MBP. The 14" MBP is less than an inch larger than your current computer. If you want to wait, even if the new one gets a price increase the old model will likely still be available at the current or a discounted price.

Also don't forget that in the mean time you can change the scaling of the laptop display to make items larger at the expense of how much you can have on the screen. It's under Displays in System Settings.

0% chance they make changes in the design or add an OLED display this next update.

The earliest rumors about OLED are 2024/2025. They just debuted a new design and Mini-LED XDR panel in 2021, there's no way they would change that up again so quickly.

This will be a spec bump. Now that it's been pushed to next year I'm betting we'll see a 3nm M2 Pro/Max along with adding WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. Maybe they'll add colors or HDMI 2.1/UHS III SD Card. That's it.

I picked up a 14.2 64gb 1tb M1 max for $3099 Sunday from micro center. They seemed to have adjusted the price and that’s now the price for the 32gb ram model. It was $600 off list price so I figured what the heck. Now that the games I play will be supported going forward on arm I have no qualms about investing in it. I would rather M2 but at $660 off with tax can’t go wrong for a couple years in this bad boy.

Always buy when you feel that you have the need for a new computer. Don‘t think about rumors and potential new products Judge the current line-up for what it really is, and not for what it can become.

well, the 2019 16inch intel mac was an outlier.

I use my Macs to make a living. If I feel that a new Mac will improve revenue generation, then I'll get the new Mac. I will wait for a new model but I won't wait forever. It feels like the M2 mini is forever right now. I think that the Studio will be a better fit anyways.

Another thing to keep in mind is a lot of stores are starting their holiday return period. For instance if you purchase a MBP from Best Buy today (where they're currently $400 off) you have until January 14th to return it.

We will likely know more about when the M2 MBP are actually coming by then; letting you decide to keep it or not.

I'm glad I bought my 14" M1 Pro when I did -- right after the M2 MacBook Air was released. I'll have gotten 6 months out of it before what looks to be a spec bump revision, and it'll be some time before the 10-core M1 Pro is considered "slow."

I generally order them on the day pre-orders open. That limits regrets phenomenally.

I don't care about any line-ups, only about the computer that interests me :).

Most people who were able to wait until now for M2 MBPs can probably wait until March or so.
