Bug report it to Apple if you are having problems.

You are using beta software, there will be problems whether that is to do with stability or just general usability. That is the price you pay for getting a head start.

I'm having the same issues...I feel like I'm using a MS product...

To be fair i've never had this bad of a problem with a MS product. But also to be fair again, this is Beta and the MS products I use (Office, Visual Studio) are release candidates.

Still wish Apple could hot fix this instead of waiting for Beta 3 to fix this however long that will take. This is a pretty damn bad bug. I just finished restarting my machine

Same problem, too. And I have nothing else installed on my new Mac mini than the SDK.
Beside the crashing issue, did anyone had a problem with breakpoints? The debugger doesn't stop at any breakpoints I set anymore. I don't know if this adheres with the crashing problem.
I think I'll reinstall SDK version 1.

Yeah, I've had it for a while now...its such a good avatar.

Make sure you follow the Bug Reporter Guidelines before you submit the bug, too, or engineering will toss it aside. Good syntax is nearly as important in bug reports as it is in coding. If more than one of you wants to file concurrent reports, that's good too...they'll get marked duplicates, but bugs tend to get bumped to the top of the list based on reported volume.

I get the breakpoint problem intermittently, although a reboot tends to fix it up.

I've got a bug filed and they requested more information, which I just sent. We'll see how this goes. Hopefully they can get a fix out sometime soon... (somehow I can just see this being some engineer's idea of a late april fool's joke :p)

All,

Yes it is a beta product and yes we are all ready to accept issues with beta products, this is indeed the problem with being on the cutting edge. However this really is such a big issue that it's hard to believe it could have been released with such glaring problems.

I am a software developer and I would never excuse myself or any of my team for releasing such a big issue, beta or not. It stinks of rushed out.

Nuff said.

Anyway I am not just "Moaning" I have also raised a bug with apple and await a fix for something that is causing major headaches for many.

People are posting because they can't believe that this kind of error can not be down to something they have done.

This thread is to let people know there are issues with Beta 2 and people are free to raise and question, this is what forums are for.

Regards

Greg X:eek:

Yes, it's very stange. Both, the breakpoint and the crashing problems seemes to come and go.

I wanted to report this bug, but I didn't find the bug report site. And now, that I reinstalled OS X and XCode, I can't reproduce the bug anymore.

All,

Well lets hope beta 3 solves the problem. Downloading it now so I hope to god this issue has gone away and we can get on and write code without constant reboots.

As the thread starter, I have vented my spleen at Apple a good twenty times in the past couple of weeks. This is the worst software to have come out of Apple in a long time.

I even emailed Steve Jobs telling him that this software had stopped my development of an iPhone/iPod game for two weeks because of this bug, and I'm finding it hard to get back into it, even with the third beta of the SDK.

I guess I'll get back into it, but if I come across another bug (that really should NOT have got through their testing (did they do any?)) like this, I'm likely to pause development again.

I still went on programming the past two weeks but it was pretty hellish. I think I've restarted my Macbook more in the past two weeks than I have the past year.

Let me know if Beta 3 fixes the problems. I won't have a chance to test it out until later on tonight.

Any luck with Beta 3? I've rolled back to Beta 1 so I could continue working, but curious if Beta 3 has fixed the main issue (apps fail to start).

Beta 3 Is still broke ?

All,

Yep I have now seen the same issues that we have all had before under Beta 3, although I do think that it happens less often (still not convinced). It's good to see they have added more elements to Interface Builder as that is clearly more important than pissing developers off by having to reboot 200 times a day when using the software - good job Apple...

What exactly was the point of release Beta 3 so soon after Beta 2 if it didn't fix the most serious error of all - I would have fired someone by now ! Very POOR

I dunno what you guys are talking about. Unless the SDK Betas are somehow responsible for my logic board frying itself within a year of purchasing my MBP (grrr!), I've had no major problems out of it that I didn't expect. The device's error handling capabilities if you don't implement some exception catching still is a bit cruddy, but that's really my only complaint so far (other than the unstable, as in changing, API but that's also expected at this stage).

:confused::confused:

iPhone SDK Beta 3 working fine

I was having lots of trouble with the iPhone SDK Beta 2 where ti would crash all the time. I have been using the iPhone SDK Beta 3 for the last few days, and it has not crashed at all. For my machine it is much more stable.

Ok gents, Beta 4 is out.

I actually didn't touch Beta 3 at all. I've been too busy the past few weeks to go back to my iPhone programming but it sounds like the problem is still there.

Anyone try Beta 4 yet? Have you seen the -10810 errors?
