I just updated to the new firmware a few hours ago and jailbroke it and I've been having serious problems. Takes forever for apps to download and almost every app I play with seems buggy, multiple crashes and such.

Oh I'm on a 2G iphone(1st gen)

Ouch. This is precisely why i hold off for at least 10-14 days before upgrading to newer firmware and re-jailbreaking. Too many random problems that come up down the road, plus the possibility of jailbreak apps getting borked. I guess i'll hold off even longer, as i love how stable my 2.1 jb has been for quite a while now.

Gonna take a lot more than Google street view to get me to risk my jb, cause other than that 2.2 adds nothing that i couldn't already do with my jailbroken 2.1. Good luck with your problems though and let us know if you find the cause of it. (Oh, and did you restore first to 2.2 then rejailbreak? If you just hit "update" while jailbroken with 2.1, I believe that could be a problem as doing a straight up update with a jailbroken phone is never recommended).

Yeah I restored it. I'm almost positive I did the update correctly, I was just curious if anyone else was noticing any problems as well. But yes I am a little bummed I updated when I was so in love with my jb 2.1 phone.

There is no big incentive to upgrade to 2.2 right away. Street view? WOW I don't even use that on my PC.

I hear what your saying but there's some cool new features in 2.2 that would be cool to have. I don't want to paint the picture like my phone isn't working it just feels a little buggy but there isn't apps straight up not working, like right now I'm using PdaNet to be on the internet and its fine.

I'm looking forward to the podcast download...
This is the only report I've seen of a slowdown, which I don't see how it could get any slower as 2.1 has been the slowest garbage ever! Just loading the damn camera seems to take 10-15 seconds... 2.2 can't be much worse

Haven't noticed any so far... but I just updated and fixed all my settings. I just downloaded a game from the appstore, and it downloaded fine and I'm playing it fine. Maybe you should try restoring again.

So far so good with me. Loving 2.2

Mine is working like a gem. and I love bitesms. Its landscape and i can use my at&t text messages.

Folks, pay attention: DO NOT install Installer.app when Jailbreaking. Use PwnageTool and deselect Installer.app.

There is NO speed difference if this rule is observed; until installing Winterboard or RealSMS then the slowdown is back.

Erm, why?

I have winterboard, flashlight, biteSMS (highly recommend this one) and my phone works great. Oh yeah I have 2.2 also. I use the user wallpaper tab in winterboard. I have always believed all the themes slow it down.

If your still running an old version of Winterboard you need to update. There is an updated posted this morning in Cydia. It opens apps like your phone is not even jailbroken.

2.2 and new winterboard SMOKES 2.1

Jailbroken 2.2 Works perfectly fine! No problems anywhere.

Street View is not the only update.. Safari has been a lot less buggy since the update.

I asure you, a restore works wonders.

Thanks for the heads up mate "serious speed improvements" apparently.

Off to try now! :D

The thing is that with quickpwn 2.2 i don't think you can deselect installer.app. It already packages that application with the rest. Correct?

Just SSH and delete that crap out of there. I created a backup first just incase there were any secondary effects. I have noticed no ill effects yet. Also, with the new Winterboard update the phone is very fast...so I didn't notice any speed improvements when Installer was removed.

Right. Sure.

The extra battery life, more responsive keyboard popups, faster safari and overall more snappiness that is pretty close to 1.1.4 on my iphone is NO no big incentive to upgrade to 2.2.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

True. Does it free up much space mate? I noticed I only have 60MB free in "/".

Not much, but why have it if you don't use it. Every little bit counts I guess, especially in your case.

One thing to consider is how you performed the upgrade. Did you Update or did you Restore? If you updated you are loosing space because of the way Cydia moves things around. I gained back 1gig of space when I restored to 2.2 because the last two time I only Updated.

I updated this time, so next update I will restore :)

By the way this is on "/" not "/var" which has 3GB left.

How much free space is normalish on "/" anyone?
