I’d planned to get 64GB as I find it easy to delete audiobooks, photos etc and just keep them on my iMac. Then I realised I’m hoping to keep the phone for at least 4-5 years and although 64GB would be perfect for a couple of years, I wasn’t sure long term so in the end went for 256GB. I don’t wish to use any form of online storage, so this isn’t an option.

99.9% of the population will never notice a real world difference between the speed of 64gb vs 256/512gb iPhone XS. Access speed should be the same; the CPU and all other hardware is identical. Read speed is likely very similar if not identical. I'm basing this off of modern PCI-e NVMe SSDs. The read speed of the Samsung 970 Evo 250gb is the same as the 500gb and 1tb.

Write speed is likely faster in the 256gb compared to 64gb iPhone. How often are you writing large swaths of data onto your phone's storage? And even then, again, 99.9% would never notice. The real world difference is negligible, if anything. It makes no sense to go with the 256gb vs. 64gb if write speed is your only concern. It's a waste of money if you don't need the extra space.

Ditto what's already been said. Everything I have is stored (and backed up) in the cloud. My current 8+ is 64 GB, out of which I have 31.6 available. I have almost 4,000 photos and 301 videos on it. I don't need anything larger.

64gb Max here. I started going with 64gb (down from 128) with the X due to the price increase. It's just getting ridiculous imo. I have unlimited data and apple music, so I just stream more music and only keep certain stuff stored locally. I use the icloud photo management that's supposed to keep lower res stored locally and the full res in icloud or whatever. I think i have 16gb free on my X after a year so I'll make due.

Did not end up ordering, but I am fine with 64gb as well. I have about 45gb used, and if I ever need space I can offload my imessage and whatsapp data which should release something like 10gb. If I end up with the XS, 64gb it will be.

I also went with 64 max this time, for one you have to choke up another 150 down payment for the 256/512 vs 0 for the 64 ( on Verizon)and second each year i upgrade and get the largest size and when I seen im using 32gb out of my 256 it really does not pay anymore . Especially if your using the cloud or google photos to backup you pictures and videos.

I did 64GB this time around. I currently have the 256GB 8 plus and tried everything in my soul to fill it up. 3,000+ photos, 200 videos, downloaded my full iTunes library, downloaded any and every app that interest me. I was only able to fill it up 46GB. 64GB is more than enough to me.

Photos are on Google (until Apple sort out the iCloud photo sharing limit) and music is Apple Music so my 64GB X has 32GB left so gone for a 64GB Xs Max. With fast and cheap cloud storage 64GB is ample for most folk.

Gone for the 64GB. Didn’t even waver. I’m currently using around 20GB on an 8 Plus by just letting iCloud look after my photos and videos. To me, it’s an absolute no brainer in terms of cost and iCloud is seamlessly integrated to the extent I’ve barely realised my stuff isn’t stored locally.

Only using 20gb out of 64 on my X. Everything else is on the cloud.. I don’t need to pay for storage I’ll never need so my new Xs will be a 64gb model also

Personally don't see why you would ever need a 256/512Gb phone. I stream everything / back it up to the cloud which costs me 79p a month... Much cheaper and easier. I have a 32Gb SE at the moment and im not even using all of that.

No need for bigger capacity than 64gb. Nowadays you can stream content on your phone and use cloud services for pictures n stuff.
