Echo the above statement.. Apple TV is an awesome all around device, although it needs to be patched to in order to get its full potential. Integrates amazingly well into the whole Mac/iPhone/iTunes ecosystem - couldn't live without it.

All that said, an all-around hardware refresh would be very welcome. Don't care so much about the drive space (all my content is centralized on Mini/NAS), but things like better CPU/GPU capable of supporting 1080p down the road.

I've started to find a reason to want more storage. HD content is jumpy when bitrates get high over WiFi. I've started sync'ing HD stuff to the ATV, but can't fit a whole lot in 32 gig... Though I am able to move things on and off.

Exactly the reason not to do WiFi. Invest in some good Cat5 cabling. All my Apple TV's are hard-wired, and never an issue with HD streaming.

Add me to the list! I love my Apple TV, in fact I bought one for my brother who lives next door to me. I have the movies stored on my Imac via an external hard drive and both apple tv connected wirelessly to an Airport Bast Station. NO issues streaming movies and we are talking about 165 feet as the crow flys from my base station to my brother's TV in his house. (I do have an airport express setup as a network extender in m bro's house.) Again, no issues streaming, in fact both apple tvs can stream movie simultaneously without any hiccups.

And, in terms of music, YAHOO!!! LOVE APPLE TV!! :) I have it hacked and love the features from the hack as well. It is cool having Pandora.

I also like my unpatched AppleTv but wish Apple would help it get some of its unrealized potential.

On top of not getting any surprise mention yesterday did anyone else notice that the Keynote Podcast will NOT play on the AppleTV? Get an unsupported format error! Previous Keynote addresses still play.

I am completely satisfied with my ATVs. I have two of them, one in my main TV room, one on my boat kept in a slip in the backyard. Through our wireless network, I can download any of our movies to either or both ATVs very easily. Both stream the content of our iTunes library effortlessly.

About my only wishlist item for the ATV would be the ability to put an outboard USB HDD on the ATV to boost its capacity. 160 GB is a lot, but I could really use about 500 GB if the capacity existed. This would be nice for when we take the boat somewhere; then of course there is no streaming and we are limited to the content on the HDD.

I have found that the secret to having good performance with the ATV is to ensure that there is a good strong signal via the Wi Fi, and when I first purchased our ATV I upgraded our ancient Wi Fi network to a more up-to-date two-channel system. Now when I am uploading content to the ATV HDD it does not slow my internet service down.

The two I have in my office and bedroom are fine on their respective 32 and 40" 720P TVs, but my 52" would love a 1080P AppleTV with native USB drive support. Right now I'm dealing with a Mac Mini+2TB drive hooked up to it, and while it works, it's still not as nice and simple as AppleTV. And I want gigabit ethernet support as well.

Im thinking of adding a apple tv to my 52 inch as well. Im looking forward to the holidays to purchase a apple tv & ps3 to add to my home theater. I have so much content on my computers that i would like to have everything in one place such as a apple tv. I have a mac mini on my 32 bedroom lcd..

Loved my Apple TV for a while but got fed up of having to have my computer on at the same time because there was not enough room to sync. That on top of syncing issues and shows not showing up and the menu been very slow at times. Decided to put my old MacMini on the TV with Plex and to be honest I think it's 1000 times better.

Happy with mine, but...

I am happy with mine, but I do think Apple could make some improvements that would make me happier.

First the positives; I use mine for all my music, photos and my kid's movies. I have used handbrake to convert all of our DVDs to the Apple Universal (with a few tweaks) we have all the kids movies synched to the Apple TV and an iPod Classic that is hooked to our in-car entertainment system. Ths is great because my young kids can watch a movie without handling (and ruining) the DVDs. We can easily play any of our music (including all of our playlists) and see our family photos in the background (we love that). I encode our home movies to the Apple universal format and this makes it much easier to "consume" this media than hooking up the camera or gathering around a computer.

Now the flaws: I wish it had a form factor and color that was more in-line with other home entertainment devices. If it was bigger, maybe it would allow more room for cooling too (why is it so damn hot?). I wish there were more remote IR codes available so that with a universal remote I could put it in stand-by mode directly (and I wish the stand-by mode consumed less power), go to MyMovies or My Music directly, etc. It would be nice if you could plug in an external USB drive (without hacking) or access a NAS directly without iTunes running on a computer.
