If you mean turning on/off settings, private browsing, uploading to Dropbox etc its quite slow.

This is what i was referring too. Both ios6 and JB are very fluid and open apps ect very fast. That being said changing settings, private browsing ect ect is just plain slow and unintuitive on ios.

I'm actually the other way around...

iPhone 5 (phone)
Nexus 7 (tablet)

I'm exactly the same, I have an iPhone 4 & 5, iPad 3 and very recently a Nexus 7 tablet.

I will admit I'm really liking the ability to customise the OS, the widgets being a very good idea amongst other things. That said I picked up my iPad after a week using the Nexus and IOS is slicker and quicker but more simplistic to use.

I'm a big fan of both but I wouldn't want the fiddly fussy aspects of Android on my iPhone. If anything IOS suits phones better than anything else because it offers the same abilities in a more straight forward way. I wouldn't want my iPhone 5's screen filled with widgets but on the iPad it'd be great.

I'm the opposite, I need a fast reliable phone like an iPhone, but I would prefer an android tablet. Why? Because I can download movies from everywhere and manage any file extension! I can go to any website even flash based, it would be the device for home use like some said here so I would have more time if it hanged a bit or lagged

Yup. I'm planning to get ride of my iPhone and pick up a the next flagship phone that Samsung releases (Galaxy S4?). I also plan to get an iPad Mini next year when it's upgraded to a Retina display hopefully.

Mate, I wouldn't do that, you get a overhauled version of Android on the Samsung range and get left behind in updates (unless you root and rom it). I would get a Nexus if you wanted an Android phone.
And about the Tablets, I completely agree, I have a Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 and Nexus 4 I love customising etc and Nexus 7 I watch YouTube read books browse the internet and play games, so an iPad would be more suited for that stuff.

I don't understand why people complain about Android as being cluttered with widgets, icons, etc., when you can delete and customize everything. You can have a blank screen and use gestures to open apps. My friend's S3 has his living room as wallpaper (no icons). When he taps parts of the wallpaper certain apps open. He taps the TV stand, Neflix opens, he taps lamp, flashlight opens, speaker opens music, cabinet opens app drawer, and so on. He has one widget (ESPN) which he resized to fit inside the TV in his wallpaper and looks like he's watching ESPN.

I'm not complaining I'm merely saying that on my iPhone I wouldn't want widgets where as on my iPad it'd be great. With a phone being smaller and having a smaller screen I wouldn't want them but obviously you're not forced to have them.

If you could blend the customisation of Android, with the slickness and fluidity of IOS it would perfect.

Unfortunately I need a phone with a lot of space (64GBs). The Nexus devices do not have expandable storage.

Assuming one owns an Android device along with an iPad, is there a way to stream data (video files) from the Android to iPad? I'm eyeing up a few options at the minute which includes a Note 2 with 64GB SD card and a 16GB iPad 4. This would be the perfect combination, as I'm not prepared to pay the Apple storage premium.

Not the *I'm* aware of. Apple has streaming abilities pretty locked down. I never had a need to do this but I'll investigate it a bit when I get home tonight.

Yep that's what I use. I have an iPad Mini because I love the size of it for playing larger games like GTA, NOVA, Modern Combat, etc. It's a nice big screen for those games and it's light enough to hold for a long period of time. I use a galaxy S3 for my phone and when it comes to phone games all i want to play is cut the rope or angry birds type games.

For me it goes: I prefer iOS for mobile devices (including tablet and phone)
I prefer Microsoft Windows for desktop/laptop software platforms.

This, bar tablets. I'd prefer Windows 8 on a tablet.

Mobiles- iOS
Tablets- Windows 8
Laptops- Windows 7/8/OS X (I prefer Windows but also don't mind OS X)
Desktops- Windows 7/8/OS X

That's pretty cool. How does he get that to work? Blank icons for apps or something like that?

I had this set up because I really preferred the Android version of Google Maps for my smartphone. With the new iOS version out now, I'm very happy with iPhone + iPad. Love the iCloud synchronization between the two devices.

OP is spot on. This exactly what I'm doing. iPad + Android.

I can't stand Android tablets, but I prefer Android for smartphones

Yeah, I believe he's using blank icons. He told me it's pretty simple to do but just need the right size wallpaper so that it would still work when in landscape.

iOS is just simply too dated for a smartphone. I think it works perfectly for a tablet though.

Currently have a Nexus 4 and iPad mini. Couldn't be happier!

I'm the same setup as the OP. Tablet with a 3rd Gen iPad with a SGIII and a N4. I use the N4 for work and SGIII as my daily driver since the LTE is really nice and the camera is better than the N4. With the SGIII's JB update, it's been super smooth.

I think iOS has great potential that has yet to be capitalized on. I think Forstall and his skeuomorphism loving attitude and Maps distraction really took away from the core os. I know it was needed, but they could have staffed up and done both properly instead of keeping the status quo. Just think about it. What would happen if they made a better notification center and app icons that wern't static, even in folders. My mind would be blown lol!

I too, have this setup.

I honestly can't see going back to the iPhone.

I wonder if I'm being greedy by thinking about replacing my iPad with an Android tablet!?

I'll probably stay with the iPad though...

I went from an iPad to a Nexus 7. No regrets here.

I have an iPad 3 but always goto my N10 for anything. I'm actually debating selling it or somehow incorporating it into my house for some weird use that I haven't thought out too much. Problem is I don't have a Mac so I may just sell it.

People are getting around 5 hours of screen time battery life on the Nexus 10. Kinda sucks, but I guess that's what happens when you're running that many pixels.

I really want a mini. Don't really care about the Retina display crap.
