What can I say...I bought a pre-loved X, 256 last month for a steal and enjoying it. Coming from a 7, the bulk and size along with PWM, bothered me initially, but I got used to the size and PWM (true tone off, white balance at 82% and Brightness at 60+% along with a checkup at an opthalmologist (who also is on a XS)). Price was the main factor in choosing the X and I will upgrade to the 5G Qualcomm one's next year.

Despite my username, I'm also a huge fan of my iPhone X. Best and last device vulnerable to the checkm8 bootrom exploit
🥳
To you it's a feature, to some it's a security nightmare. ;)
p.s. I was a fan of jailbreaking prior to iOS 5.

My iPhone x 256gb is still going strong. Initially intend to get iPhone 11 pro max this year. However, finally decided to keep the phone for another 1 year and get iPhone 12 instead.

iPhone X even now is still as capable as it is 2 years back when I first got it.

Performance everything is still perfect.

Im not saying you are dumb but I think buying luxury goods on credit is a dumb idea.
It’s not a luxury good, it’s a tool that is treated like any other utility bill. My gas and electric costs more a month than my phone bill. People often spread the cost as it can be cheaper than buying outright and adding a data plan and the money earns interest in my bank account rather than Apples. Don’t judge when the facts are so loose and varied.

I would assume that the newest and latest iPhones are luxury goods for 99% of the people. There is indeed a small group of professionals who need the iPhone as a tool to test software etc. There is nothing you can't do with an iPhone 6s compared to the iPhone 11. It is like saying a Porsche is a tool to drive around when a Toyota can do the same for you.

That still doesn’t get away from the fact paying monthly doesn’t necessarily mean people can’t afford the device they want. It’s about choice.

The only problem I'm having with mine is that face recognition only works about half the time and I'm always having to type in the passcode

It may be a hardware issue. I’d reset Faceid and set it up again being careful at the distance and angle during setup. If that doesn’t work, I help a friend who was having the same issue you’re describing and it worked well. What he was doing was waking the screen while it was laying flat on the table or not directly looking at it. Every time he did this, the phone tried to unlock but couldn’t because of the conditions I listed above. It registered each wake up as a failed attempt to unlock and after it happened enough times, it needed him to enter the passcode to unlock the phone. I’m not saying that’s what’s happening in your situation but, after he stopped doing that his phone never gave him issues with unlocking.

Normally this would be true, but this is a zero interest loan. There are pretty much zero reasons to not finance the phone, and even if you can afford it outright it's better to not spend the entire $1000 at once.

Delete the FaceID configuration and try again from scratch. Sometimes it'll learn your face "wrong" and you'll have trouble with it. Clean the FaceID sensor area before having it learn your face.

Its serving me well. I was back and forth on upgrading to the 11 pro max with the $250 gift card to switch to Xfinity mobile but I missed the boat because I was still unsure if it was worth the upgrade.

Now I will probably hold out until the 12 comes out. Plus its going to be paid off this month so my bill will drop.

I would have benefited from the improved camera, battery, etc. but I felt that the X was good enough and that my money would be better spent on a more significant upgrade next year (hopefully).

Ive had my X for 2 years now, but definitely gonna upgrade and get the iphone 11 coz its the best priced new iphone. The longer i hold on to this iphone X the less i'll get in resale value. If i can somehow sell my iphone X for $450 and buy the iphone 11 (128gb) which cost $810 after taxes, id come away with paying only $360 for a brand new iphone 11.

Yeah sure the iphone X is capable even now. But come on, $360 to upgrade to an iphone 11 is something i can settle with and be happy

Last month, I made the decision to buy a new in store iPhone X for $1,000 (AUD) and I feel like it's a much nicer phone for the price than the iPhone 11Pro with is $1,749 AUD here. I might still get AppleCare+ on it, although that's $300 and not sure if I need it at that price).

I used to have the urge to upgrade every year, but the X seems to be the classic nowadays that does everything very well and for a good price. Fast, great screen, good camera nice design, decent battery, good size etc.

I know this is highly subjective, but I also look at saving $749 which gets me an new iPad Air or Mini at the same time.

I just bought an X this year too for $700 new. I love the look of the green iPhone 11 Pro but the X does everything I need and is as fast as the newer phones for basic functions. I plan to hold onto this until late next year at the very earliest. I may pick up the new rumored 5.4" if it looks good. If not, I'll probably buy the 11 Pro at some point after that.

The idea of feeling unsatisfied with a one year old smartphone, in their current state of maturity, is absurd and not even a question to me.

That's what I am going to do. My X is out of storage space. I made the mistake of getting a 64 gig 2 years ago because I only was using about 35 gig at the time.

I can trade it in for a $400 credit and get a 128 gig 11 for about $350. If something great comes out next fall, I'll sell it and put it toward a new 12.

The only way someone would feel ‘unsatisfied’ with a smart phone, would be with the platform itself (iOS/Android), not the hardware itself, as that has been equally good amongst pretty much every smart phone out there now. And for those who upgrade on an annual basis, they do it because they can through the help of Apples trade-in program and carriers, but that’s only a select few who are very tech focused.

Where can you trade it in for $400 credit? Seems like a fair deal... but I’m honestly looking to wait for 2020 iPhone...

I have tried that - but it tells me that I have to put in the passcode because the phone has restarted. I haven't restarted the phone so I don't know if it is restarting on its own or if it just an error message -but whichever - it requires me to put the passcode in most of the time. I have also completely reset the phone.

Apple.

64GB iPhone X are going for around $450 or so on Swappa. So, for someone who's selling one, after Swappa ($-15) and Paypal fees, they are on netting around $422. On top of that, you must ship the phone, so thats another $10-$15. At that point, you're down to around $407. May as well not deal with that hassle and trade the phone into Apple.
