We've been having a ton of trouble with our Mini 4. No matter what I do, we can't seem to get it to play video in Disney+ or HBO Max apps. The apps launch, but video playing always starts stalling out no matter what. Connectivity is good (it's a wifi model) and web browsing works fine -- but it just can't play video.

I tried resetting it with Erase Content and Settings, and even tried a full on DFU reset. Each time, though, now that I think about it, I've restored from an iCloud backup and maybe that's part of the problem? Other than that I'm a bit flummoxed.
What happens if you play videos in the browser?

Have you tried lowering the video quality? Iirc, the Apple A8 chipset doesn't support hardware acceleration for HEVC.

But yeah, try setting up as new as well.

No idea. Are you on iOS 15.5? Disney+ works like a charm for me. I was able to watch the whole Obi-Wan season on my Mini 4 without any issues.

Hope you’re able to resolve the issue!

About keeping an iPad to use with 32bit apps. I you buy a second hand iPad that supports ios10 but is on a newer version is it possible to downgrade to ios10? Can you restore a full backup that is taken from an ios10 ipad to do this?

Thanks! I'll do some more troubleshooting, though I'm worried there might be a hardware issue. The other thing that's happening is that the battery will completely deplete even as it's sitting locked.

It doesn’t sound like a hardware issue to me. I would carry out a full reformat of the device and make sure it’s on the latest iOS firmware before re-downloading all your apps again. My battery is fine despite being continually used since 2015. It probably holds 15% less charge than my Mini 5 due to the lower battery health but it’s still very useable.

No, as iOS 10 isn't being signed for devices that can run a newer version.

I actually did exactly that. DFU reset and everything. I did however restore it from an iCloud backup after that, so maybe that was a mistake?

I have an iPad 2 (2013) as a dedicated meditation-timer.
The glass is a little loose, but I never even pick it up. It sits in a holder, and I use 1 app
entirely on it. As long as it lives it has a purpose…
Very convenient to have it that way, so when my Mini will be replaced it will go down same road, or in a different room, where I mostly do yoga but also meditate.

Air2 used daily (updated to iPadOS 15), although I find it gets hot sometimes after a prolonged use...

I use my iPad 2 on iOS6 to relive the golden days. Chrome browser has more functionality than Safari but YouTube videos recently stopped playing.

Still loving my 7th generation iPad. I shattered the screen a few months ago and although my Applecare on it expired, I just couldn’t justify paying full whack for a brand new model when I was so happy with this one. I ended up going to a third party repair shop who did a fantastic job replacing the digitizer and cleaning it up for $50. Until this ipad completely dies or becomes unusable, I won’t be changing.

I have a first generation 10.5 inch iPad pro with the Smart Keyboard. Think I solved the issue with the smart keyboard not wanting to connect, played with the pins on it and now it works as it should. It is the 256gb model, and although I am considering getting one of the iPad Air with the m1 chip from a local pawn shop, unless he gives me a really good deal on it, plan on using my pro for much longer. It still works awesome and is basically a laptop replacement.
