I have animations shut off and both my iPhone and iPad Air were running fine before 9.2. Now they run like they are 9 years old.

Hi, is anyone experiencing major lagging with IOS 9.2? I upgraded both my iPhone 5S and iPad Air to IOS 9.2 today and ever since they run like they are 9 years old. I am experiencing major lagging with everything. Apps take forever to load, Internet take forever to open up and load, keyboard is acting up. I don't know what is going on with Apple but they have went to **** lately. IOS 9.2 is buggier than hell. Anyone know how I can go back to 9.1?
Absolutely zero lag or stutter

iPhone 5s, 9.2 still not as responsive as it should be. Pull down spotlight isn't smooth and control centre and notification centre usually draws to the screen when my finger is already halfway through swiping

at least quick reply is quick again and multitasking is smooth

Horrible stutters. Is very frustrating. I'm considering a full reinstall, but I wonder how should I proceed:
  1. Full reinstall as new, then restore from iCloud,
  2. Full reinstall as new, then restore from iTunes
  3. Forget about restore and simply reinstall apps?
Option 3 is painful, but if is the best option, I'll do it. I can't take the lag and stuttering anymore :(. What would you do?

Thanks for the help.

I know option 3 is the most pain but that's what I am going to do. That way I know I have a complete fresh install. I am getting tired of this buggy software

that's so weird, you all. I have a 5s and it's running without stutter and lag (and I notice the difference between 9 and 8): meaning, it's not as bad as you are describing it. I would say that there is something screwy with your phones.... Good luck

That doesn't make a difference and you would be wasting your time.

Oh look, iPhone 6 is so smooth now. No wait, it has transparency off. Because it stutters.

Best running version of ios 9 so far.

Sorry, but I just read: "least smelliest type of turd so far"

I like iOS 9.2, too, but the slight delay on app pressing since 9.0 is slightly annoying (I suspect it has something to do with force touch). AND unresponsive app pressing after a home button press is very annoying. Yeah yeah, I'll live, it's just a phone... I really think this is a learning opportunity to not be so attached to electronics. Thanks :apple:! My techno-addiction is being cured! :D

Edit: oops. Forgot that I have Reduce Transparency on! That alone is reason to hate iOS 9. I have to gimp my device for it to run well. But, on the happy cheerful I'm so lucky side, I don't notice reduce Transparency on anymore! Miracles!

More edit: For s**** and giggles I turned off Reduce Transparency. The control center doesn't stutter as bad as before. Yay for further Metal optimization! But WOW I actually found the opaqueness of the folders and NC distracting after about a month of having Reduce Transparency on. Funny.

The lag/stutter I had on iOS9 and 9.1 with especially Spotlight search (the one which you can access everywhere, slide down) had major stutter/lag when showing a third party keyboard like Swype or GoKeyboard but now that is not there anymore in iOS9.2 on my iPhone 5s.

But i'm still seeing this lag in the same place with my iPad mini2 which now also runs iOS9.2. That wasn't there in iOS8.3 and 8.4 and both Swype and GoKeyboard had many updates also in regards to iOS9. I think it's related to Apple's iOS. Turning on reduce transparency doesn't help much.

I'm still seeing with both devices that sometimes in some areas e.g. Spotlight search that it shows Apple's keyboard instead of the third party keyboard which i use as a main keyboard and have sorted this as main keyboard in settings and when opening a different app it does show the third party keyboard.

I'm beginning to think there is, although I don't know what else to do. My final resort will be the complete wipe and restart from scratch, as painful as it sounds. I'm truly frustrated.

Don't bother.Tried all 3 including a complete firmware flash on my iPhone 6 and it still has lag
It won't help with the small stutters that are here and there, but if someone has actual bad lag and stuttering everywhere which is beyond any of that (and isn't something typical), then something like that might get rid of those type of oddities.

I suggest you fresh reinstall..have u tried that yet?

I don't want to create a whole new thread for this.
But regarding Touch ID on the 5s, is someone noticing any lag with it?

Because i just did a fresh installation of 9.2 without restoring any backup and when the moment came to set it up during the initial configuration wizard (Sorry, that's a windows term) i took way longer than usual to detect my finger, like 2-3 seconds before the animation starts to get filled with red.
When unlocking the device, sometimes it works perfectly , sometimes it show the same delay.

Is this happening to any of you?

Not seeing any lagging on a Mini 4.

Mine still lags like balls sometimes in the multitask view. It is about 50/50 if it drops frames in the multitask view or not. However, on 9.1, the multitask was ALWAYS laggy, so at least they fixed it to some degree.

I have no lagging issues with 9.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2, 9.1 or 9.2 on my 5s. They are all smooth and I see no real difference between the ios 9 versions.

I have reduce motion turned on (I suffer from motion sickness) but reduce transparency turned off. I have spotlight search and siri suggestions turned off - don't find those features useful.

The major updates (9.x) were installed with itunes restore, the minor updates (9.0.x) were installed over the air.

9.2 running smooth on both 6s and 5s for me.

I do have spotlight search turned off on both though, since I don't use it.

My 5S is running just fine on 9.2. Spotlight search off, static background, but I haven't turned on reduce motion or transparency.
No issues here.
