Taco Bell is no better than McDonald's in my opinion - it's all fast food crap.
What about Taco Time? :)

These joints pop up everywhere on the highway and I enjoy patronizing them when we do road trips and such. Haven't had anything from Taco Time, in a long time, and just thinking about tacos is making me hungry. E-coli outbreak be damned! :)

Remember, dinner time is taco time!

Is that anything like Taco Town

The reality is it only takes one person not washing their hands to get something like this started. The reason fast-food restaurants are at higher risk is because of the higher number of people in the "food-chain" before the food gets to you.

Fast food restaurants are gross. All of them.

Which is not to say I don't occasionally eat at them - I do. But I avoid it when possible.

I usually eat at Taco Bell, KFC and McDonald's. Usually Taco Bell. I have never gotten sick off them.

I have however gotten food poisoning from Chickfila (sp?? forgot how to spell it. lol) 2 times. I never go there anymore.

I just love my fillers and lard!!

It is good to know that KFC will now be having 0 trans fat in their foods. Isn't Taco Bell following suit?

But Chick-Fil-A has the best fries anywhere. :p

I've gotten food poisoning from Domino's, four times. I once got gastroenteritis from Burger King as well.

I think more of the problem is not the food they serve but the way its cooked that makes people sick, Trans fat might kill you but it wont be overnight.

Of course. There's something just disgusting about fries being cooked in the same vat that made fries two hours, four hours, six hours ago. I've also seen employees never wash their hands when they leave the restroom.

It's time to have your cholesterol checked. ;)

I stand by my assertion that anyone who thinks Taco Bell is good has had their taste buds removed. They use a caulking gun for the 'sour cream.'

Gah!

@Savanarose: KFC and Taco Bell are owned by Yum! Brands, which also owns A&W, Pizza Hut, and Long John Silvers.

A&W = Okay
Pizza Hut = Greasy crap
Long John Silvers = Fried crap
KFC = Fried crap with fake mashed potatoes and microwaved corn
Taco Bell = Crap in horrible tortillas.

I might be a food snob though.

Gimme F****** sushi anyday of the week. I rather be eating some pufferfish!

What, no one's ever gotten sick in a fancy restaurant before?

The fact is that you could get E. coli in any restaurant. This particular case is just more high-profile because it involves a large number of chain restaurants that all get their produce from a common source.

Exactly. I bet you this will still look extremely bad for Taco Bell, though. Some people just need to point fingers to further bolster their own beliefs and opinions on things. I'm sure every anti-fast food person out there right now is doing it.

Taco Bell ordered scallions removed from its 5,800 U.S. restaurants Wednesday after tests suggested they may be responsible for the E. coli outbreak that has sickened at least three dozen people in three states.

Imagine the person who gave away his PS3, got a $12000 voucher for Taco Bell because of it, and then got e. coli from eating the food.

Update:

Health officials on Wednesday zeroed in on lettuce as the likely suspect in the E. coli outbreak linked to Taco Bell, though tracing the vegetable's source may prove difficult.

The outbreak apparently has run its course after 71 confirmed cases of the disease in five states, primarily New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, officials said.

Investigators considered cheddar cheese and ground beef as possible contaminated ingredients before settling on lettuce. The company first believed green onions were responsible, but follow-up testing by the government failed to confirm that.

I like Taco Time quite a lot better than Taco Bell. Not that I got either one very often...

This hits close to home for me... both my brother and I were severely sickened by Taco Bell food the around 12/1, our doctor, being the genius she is, suspected something and called the CDC. Then sent us a special crate to send stool samples to them with, and it came back that I had low-grade E. Coli, and my brother had that and possibly a bad case of gastroenteritis.
