I used a thin strip of black electrical tape to cover the lens. I can always peel it off in the event I want to use the camera.
Well I think it matters a little bit, in the sense that you are preparing for something that has literally never been an actual issue on the Mac. I think it’s also a bit less of a concern on a portable where you can simply close the lid when it’s not in use, as opposed to something like an iMac, which is always sitting with its camera exposed. But of course if it makes you feel better there’s no real reason not to cover it, assuming you do it in a way that won’t cause damage.Does this matter on which OS it happened? Was it expected there at all? It would be too naive to expect any software or hardware to work without bugs.
Lol, yeah, it does. Our phones don't have an indication of when the cameras work, for example.Does this matter on which OS it happened? Was it expected there at all? It would be too naive to expect any software or hardware to work without bugs.

You have too much faithI don't think putting anything over the lens is necessary to begin with. The chances of someone being able to access the camera are very small, and from what I understand it is not possible for the camera to be powered on without the LED indicator light also lighting up. With that said, I would definitely recommend more of a sticker than something you have to physically attach, since the tolerances on these computers are so tight, I could see it potentially causing problems.
I use this one on my new 16".

Thank you. I just ordered some!Don't have a new MBP but use these on all my computers. They're perfect. If they fall off replace with another. Leaves no residue behind and the screen closes perfectly. Added bonus is you can use them to mark pages
They now disconnect when the lid is shut like the new MacBook Air - good to see Apple paying great attention to detail over securityDon’t forget to cover all of the microphones too!
There was 'iSeeYou' in ~2011 and something in July this yearWell I think it matters a little bit, in the sense that you are preparing for something that has literally never been an actual issue on the Mac. do you people really put huge sticker labels on your cameras? Has nobody heard of sticker dots? they are small and cover the camera and don't look ridiculous like a label or something you can't close. Or you could you know get some black electrical tape and a hole punch and make one. No reason to use something you actually see.
