Has anyone found a webcam cover that is narrow (wide) enough to fit a 16" MBP bezel?

I don't think putting anything over the lens is necessary to begin with. The chances of someone being able to access the camera are very small, and from what I understand it is not possible for the camera to be powered on without the LED indicator light also lighting up. With that said, I would definitely recommend more of a sticker than something you have to physically attach, since the tolerances on these computers are so tight, I could see it potentially causing problems.

You must remember the recent bug with the FaceTime turning on the camera/mics even if you have not yet accepted the call? To each his own. But the claim about the tolerances makes sense.

Does this matter on which OS it happened? Was it expected there at all? It would be too naive to expect any software or hardware to work without bugs.
Well I think it matters a little bit, in the sense that you are preparing for something that has literally never been an actual issue on the Mac. I think it’s also a bit less of a concern on a portable where you can simply close the lid when it’s not in use, as opposed to something like an iMac, which is always sitting with its camera exposed. But of course if it makes you feel better there’s no real reason not to cover it, assuming you do it in a way that won’t cause damage.

I agree in general. But for me at the moment the biggest argument is that whatever is permanently/semi-permanently glued on the screen might be required to be unglued one day, and that might come with surprises, which I would better avoid.

Lol, yeah, it does. Our phones don't have an indication of when the cameras work, for example.

There is a certain obsession with some people about issues like this. I could care less if some perv wants to see my old Dad-azzzz.

I use washi tape. I have covered my cameras for many years, ever since some Windows malware was programmed to use it.

I’ve used these before. Cheap, get them at walmart or wherever. Color them in with a sharpie if necessary. Cut them to size with a scissors as well though they come in many small sizes. The adhesive won’t mess up the glass.

Those saying it isn’t necessary probably haven’t had to use work issued laptops that are provisioned with corporate profiles. These can allow them to install, enable, disable anything without any action from the user.

I’ve never really covered the camera on my personal machines, but definitely work machines

do you people really put huge sticker labels on your cameras? Has nobody heard of sticker dots? they are small and cover the camera and don't look ridiculous like a label or something you can't close. Or you could you know get some black electrical tape and a hole punch and make one. No reason to use something you actually see.
Amazon - sticker dots

Don’t forget to cover all of the microphones too!
They now disconnect when the lid is shut like the new MacBook Air - good to see Apple paying great attention to detail over security :)

you can open the bottom of the laptop and disconnect camera physically, I don't know why in Apple MacOS you can't turn off camera like in Windows

the microphone you can turn off in sound settings by setting input volume on 0%

I mean those clearly work but two comments. 1. I used what I had already on hand because I use them and if they fall off, you'll know when they're off. 2. My experiences with electrical tape and the goop they leave behind on whatever they come in contact with is not something I personally wish to deal with on my computers. See post #9

To each their own.
