Literally this. I was "wowed" by the customizing options of android when I changed to my LG G2. But when that wow factor went out, I ended up with a phone crashing often. Going to iPhone 6 when it releases. I just need something that works well, feels well, and that I don't need to replace in several years.

I would blame LG's poor android UI for the crashing. My Moto X never crashes. It doesn't lag either, especially with the ART compiler turned on.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. We haven't received 4.4 yet. I don't like flashing a rom to get KK either, because custom rom makes my phone feel very "ghetto". Sorry if that offends anyone, but that's just how I feel about it :)

Someone suggested trying Themer, maybe here or another thread.

I have been messing with it for the last couple of days and really like it. Don't think one can ever get bored with it considering all the options. BTW, I don't root and flash ROMs, changing launcher and themes sufficed but this is even better with the options.

I suggested it in this thread. That's one of Themer's selling point. Change the look of your phone on the fly. Hope more poeple make new themes down the road to have an even bigger selection.

I don't like touchwizz.
Your 16 I thought all kids your age like that.:D I know I did.

I am curious why a 16 year old need a new shinny phone every year. Hell when I was 16 cell phones were only a dream.

Just give me something that works, feels well built, and has a good standby battery time, right now I have to charge my phone each day.

You'd have to charge a iPhone everyday as well unless you barely use it.

yeah I never understood this complaint people make about android. There are tons of android phones with better real world battery life than the iPhone. The Moto X, Droid Maxx, Note 2/3, lg g2 and many others.

Unfortunately, aside from the Droid Maxx, it's kinda hard to tell which phones have battery life as good as the iPhone's until you've used them for a while. I know some of my Androids, I have to charge 2-3x a day with the same usage pattern as my iPhone.

That said, among the phones I've used, the iPhone line appears to be one of the best when it comes to standby battery life. So far, the only other smartphone I've used that can match up is the Moto G and I'm not sure if it's because it really does have low power draw or if it's because I disabled cellular data on it.

*Every two years.

I prove to my parents that I deserve it with pretty good grades. Also people here buy phones every year or less, they also don't need to do that. I just love tech so a two year upgrade plan for me.

If you get bored this fast why not try to write your own code and perhaps develop launchers, your own ROM and what not. Who knows perhaps you'll end up making a better OS altogether.

As I said, I've flashed a few ROM's and I am no longer bored. I don't know how to write code however.

I can never get of android.

Hardware. There's just so much to choose from, last year I upgraded 6-8 times. I only had my 32GB nexus 5 for 3 months and as much as love it I will give it to my Mother (upgrading her Samsung Galaxy S3) when I upgrade to Sony's XPERIA Z2 in a few weeks.

Software. Endless customization. I'm not into Rooting but having Nova Launcher Prime, HD Widgets, Simple Text and Icon Packs is amazing.

Granted I've had my Nexus 4 for only 1 year and a bit, I've grown bored of it and am looking at a Lumia or back to the iPhone. Nothing wrong at all with Android, I rather enjoyed but I just want something different. Rather confused:confused:

I was okay with the Lumia and Windows 8 until this weekend, when my family was expecting me somewhere, and I got stuck in traffic. My Nokia 925 chose this moment to lock up, it locked up, it locked the ****** up. I was incommunicado oft two hours before it unlocked. I am an Apple believer, but I decided to give Windows another try. What a mistake! Features are great, but reliability of the OS trumps all!

I enjoy both Android and iOS, each for their strengths. It is after all, a matter of personal preference and how one uses their phone.

The reason I greatly prefer Android is it's much broader range of functionality. That along with the ability to customize it exactly to my liking, makes it far more useful to me.

My workflow demands a fast stable smartphone that's capable of more than my iPhone 5S, my Nexus 5 fills my needs ideally.

like android.... but....

One difference maker for me will be having MS Office available on the iPad So I can do real work. The iOS devices seem a little better polished. More iOS devices have a more recent OS version as compared to android devices. Better security, iTunes, makes for a better well rounded experience. I like both my nexus and iPad mini... Of course I really like paying $200 less. lol. Both are good. Google is more suspicious though in my mind when it comes to violating user data. So I am willing to dump Samsung and google(android). I've made up my mind to get the iphone6 and sell off my galaxy nexus. Gotta try all os in my lifetime #

I think your statement is more to do with being pissed off, than anything. Not really fair to blame an entire OS/phone because one time there was an 'issue'. I have 3 Lumia phones and have never had what you described happen to me. Actually, I've never heard of any phone 'locking up' for 2 hours and then somehow fixing itself. Sounds kind of fishy.

Best part of android imo, is that whenever you get bored install a new launcher, and get a whole new phone. I have mine dialed in exactly where I want it, but it has gone through 4 totally different iterations since I got it back in september.

This is the main reason I will never go back to ios. Also windows phone lol. Good luck with that.

We'll, yeah, I was miffed, good job figuring that out. I responded to a text from my son, and the phone froze on the text screen. It wouldn't respond to any inputs, touch screen or mechanical. I couldn't power it down to reboot. When I got through the traffic jam, I drove straight to the phone store, where it suddenly went to working again. I agree, I've never heard of a phone doing something like this. Never had these "fishy" goings on with Palm, Blackberry, or iOS.

I'm actually considering going back to iPhone next year for a few reasons...

+ No carrier branding or bloatware
+ I love great hardware design
+ I want all my purchased iOS games back
+ Good camera
+ Great resell value

I'm just taking a two-year break from iOS. But going back to an iPhone isn't because of iOS. I think iOS is the main reason I left iPhones because I still find Android more flexible and versatile for my needs especially from already what I know from using Android. I like iPhone's hardware more than its software.

One very simple and shallow reason why I don't mind getting an iPhone again is because I want a white phone for my next one. My next buying purchase is based mostly on color! Now I got a glacial silver HTC One which is generally white on the front. But the black bezels while great for watching videos can still show alot of fingerprints. A mostly white front panel iPhone doesnt show so much fingerprints and I generally won't use iPhone to watch videos anyway because I don't even have iTunes installed on my laptop anymore. I never got a white iPhone anyway. I want a gold iPhone 6s. Same like the 5s with gold accents and chrome trims. A bigger iPhone 6s with gold chrome trims will look great next to the HTC One with silver chrome trims.

Being that Jony Ive uses a white iPhone and he basically designed iOS7 to cater to white and IPS screens (white backgrounds are battery saving), I figure white iPhones will be the new black. Apple is going back to the classic white that started it all for iPods. I do find myself still drawn to the space grey 5s but then I think about iOS7, fingerprints, black being so common, and the fact I would love to own a white front panel iPhone for the first time to make me reconsider them again.

That's a weird reason for going back to iPhone. I actually like the black/space grey, I would never consider a white phone. But about your earlier points, so true.

No carrier branding or bloatware, great design and camera, etc. It's the little things that count. While some Android phones do offer those things, it's hard to find. The iPhone offers the complete package.

Not sure what you meant by "complete" package. But to me it is more "half-baked". The most critical Iphone lacks are:-

- file-system and open connectivity support (e.g. usb-host, DLNA, wifi-direct, BT, always-on wifi-hotspot etc)
- email attachment support.
- multi file format support.
- universal sharing (supports any online share to any stream)
- true multi-tasking (incl. intent/event-based app activation)
- proprietary and expensive accessories (cable, connectors etc)

I'm going to call the OP out. It is probably time to put up or shut up.

Is your current experience with android ultimately limited to a dozen or so basic functions that your phone's hardware can support? Yes. That isn't abnormal, that is life. Boredom with what these and other devices could do is what gave rise to hacking (traditional definition).

Rooting and flashing ROMs are ultimately the province of an end-user. You're a consumer and as long as you remain just a consumer your experience will be limited to what others produce for you.

If you want to stop being bored then start delving into writing your own apps or ROMs. Until then, you're just another joe-schmoe on the street with a smartphone.
