Coming soon - another thread soon that's titled "Is ANYONE happy with their glossy 15" Macbook Pro screen?"

I have a glossy 15' from the 9C60, and personally, I love it. I think the right side may be slightly brighter than the left, but I can barely tell, honestly.

I've got the 9C60. The backlight is perfectly even, it also doesn't look grainy at all. No different from my old powerbook except brighter!

I also compared the computer's display to my samsung lcd just to make sure and both have the same level of clarity.

I love my Glossy screen. I have no dead pixels, no light issues. It's all even and sexy good!

Remember though, the whole Glossy / Matte debate is just personal preference.

I have owned both and far prefer glossy but that's just me. Cheers, Tom

I like my Glossy too - but only when Im sitting far away from MBP.. When Im using it as a laptop - my screen is utter crap. Ilumination is even but viewing angles are so narrow that screen looks like covered with dirt with grey patches and constant colour shifting. Im going to send it for repair in January - I dont trust Apple enough to do this right now.

A person with glossy screen!!

I think I was the first...well...in the first page of this topic, anyone has a glossy screen...I get afraid and think I've take the wrong choice

I don't have it yet but, I think that a glossy screen is better because it's brilliant and has better colors, If light reflection don't like, you could move it...it's a laptop...:p

My MBP will arrive for christmas, I can't wait anymore!!!

Bye!

I LOVE mine. I was expecting it to have issues, because posters here complained so much, but mine is flawless to my eye.

As others have said, people with perfect displays/computers/etc don't often come into forums to say so. It's the complainers that seem to make the most noise.

Just unpacked my new MBP C2D glossy with 9c57 screen. This is my first MBP and the first things I noticed after switching on are extremely bright lower screen corners and grain. I'm thinking about going back to my MB which has a smaller, but perfect screen.

Someone said here Apple fixed their recent screen issues. I cannot confirm this with my brand new machine.

no problems to report on my matte display.

Model #9C56

Apparently the 9C56 is the best among them. Are you able to take some pictures?

I was not happy with my 09c57 and 09C60 displays. the 57 suffered from a very bright strip at the bottom as well as dark corners and dark strips up the sides. Above all it didn't show whites as white on the right side - they were off white and a little brownish. It had little grain though . the 09c60 was fine in terms of illumination, but had awful viewing angles and grain. The vertical viewing angles was so bad that there was literally no way to view the screen at optimum angle AND maintain relatively good posture. If I had it on my lap I would have to lower my knees to get a good angle, or lean back or hunch. On the desk, I'd have to either lean back and stretch forward to type or hunch my neck down, or move the computer away from me and stretch to reach it. THAT is unacceptable and while the screen straight on at optimum viewing angle was good, I need to be able to sit comfortably while I work.

So, no, I wasn't happy with either. I wish I could have gotten a 09C56 model...

Brand new MBP 15" Matte - screen 00009C60 which looks perfect. (Manufacturer 00000610). No dead pixels, graininess or unevenness so far as I can see.

I'm been happy with my matte screen, it says its x71c5, but maybe I'm reading it from the wrong place. I ordered it the day it came out. The screen is a noticable improvement over my 12" iBook G4's.

What is this grain issue?

Some non-issue that people came up with so they can have some beef with Apple.

I love my 15" matte display, its bright, crisp and I haven't found any dead pixels...and if I did, I wouldn't really care. In fact, its so nice, I often get compliments from my PC using coworkers.

What BS. Why would anybody on these forums WANT to have a beef with Apple? And do you really think making up that there is a grain issue with the display would be a good way to do this?

Ridiculous.

You invalidated your own argument right there. Truth is even the likes of your PC using friends won't put up with this kind of crap.

You are just someone who thinks "wow, I spent almost more than John's Dell with similar specifications, but this beauty looks sweet. It is flawless! Oh, there is a flaw! Why that is unpossible?! What then did I pay for?! If Apple made it this way it must be the definition of flawless! Grainy screens are the new canvas for digital content creators!"

We are people who have some beef with Apple so we consistently buy their products to prove our beliefs. Wow. What a theory. Perhaps you need to see a shrink. It is called Schizophrenia. Take some pills for those delusions man. Next we know you will be strapped with bombs outside the Whitehouse saying Bush was the mastermind behind 9/11.

If you have no problems, just say so and piss off. No need to insult those who are affected further.

Can I post a picture in here? I have a comparison of my MBP next to my 20" cinema display next to my PB.

Who wins in terms of screen quality and max intensity?

MBP hands down.

I've had all those too and there is no way that the MBP wins. Yes, if you're looking from a distance with a varied desktop pattern it might look similar to the cinema display. BUT, if you are actually WORKING on the computer and need color accuracy, lack of shimmering grain, even illumination and good viewing angles, the MBP will without any doubt lose to both the powerbook 15" (not 12") and cinema display. Yes, the powerbook is less bright, but I bet you it has relatively even illumination and accurate colors and is capable of showing gradients...

Unfortunately, photos can't capture these things...

I wasn't making an argument, it was a statement. Didn't realize that this thread was a debate

I don't have any problems with my display and I already took a piss today - several actually. You need to chill or go **** yourself...

Hate to say it, but the nature of the beast means that the grain won't be captured by your digital camera.

Since your digital camera takes pictures by measuring the average light intensity of the scene and then exposing the CCD sensor based on that, coupled with that fact that CCD sensors themselves introduce noise into the picture, it renders any photos you take of your 2 screens absolutely worthless for proving anything. The MBP's screen only looks decent on torch mode, but so does the grain as well... turn that down a few notches and say greetings to uneven backlighting and vignetting around the corners.

Besides the 20" ACD is a ***** display anyway. What kind of pro quality monitor has no contrast controls, and with pinkish hues on whites? Apple's obviously.
