anyone have a pioneer kuro plasma?

try the avs forum. No offense to anyone here, but those guys know what they are talking about and can answer any question you have about those plasmas.
But a short and sweet answer, the kuro series is the best plasma money can buy in my opinion. you will be paying a premium, but than again you get what you pay for

I did a fair amount of research on TVs earlier this year. It became clear that everyone thought the Kuro was the best plasma set out there (though quite expensive). While there are still concerns about burn-in and uneven phosphor wear with plasma sets, the new models have gotten a great deal better and it seems that many folks believe burn-in is not much of a concern anymore (though it's still a pretty common topic on the plasma forum).
My suggestion is to go to AVS and do some serious research (warning: it will be overwhelming at first). Only you can decide it plasma is right for you.

Gaming on a plasma is actually going to be much better than that of an lcd. You should have no problems with any kind of gaming. Just don't leave it on pause for a full day and you should be very happy

The plasmas will handle fast-moving objects much better, as well as better contrast, deeper blacks, etc.
it's only an issue in very extreme cases - such as usage in a video store, or if you do not break the tv in properly. do not play games or cast still images on the screen in the first 200 hours.
don't worry. You have to be a complete idiot to burn in a plasma tv anymore. Like i said, don't leave it paused for a full day and you should be fine. You need to break in the tv and put it to the right color adjustments before you can really enjoy the tv. Once you have all that set up, watch your tv and enjoy it, because you will be watching the best tv money can buy imho
I'm just saying that claiming that burn-in is a non-issue is misleading. It can and does happen. Be careful.
Also, plasmas generally have glossier screens (depends on the model) than LCDs which can cause issues with reflections. Though, if you are in a darkened room most of the time this shouldn't be a problem.
I have a Sony 46" Bravia LCD and the picture is amazing. Yes, the blacks are not as good as a plasma, but it doesn't bother me that much. If blacks were a concern, and from what I know now, I would wait and opt for one of the new LED backlit LCD TVs. The blacks are very close to those of plasma displays and you get all of the benefits of LCD.
Whatever you get it will be awesome... so just enjoy it!

no offense, but if he is going to be buying a $5000 tv he knows the difference between plasma and lcd. I myself have a plasma and love it. the picture is great and reflection isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
As far as burn in, all tv makers have things built into the tv that can get rid of any problem that does occur. i know its not a non issue, but its not so much an issue that you should reconsider because of it. If it was a few years ago, then it might be something you should be more considered about, but now, i wouldn't be so much.
Please go buy that beautiful tv and enjoy and don't let anyone here stop you or try to talk you into something else!
I understand people are very passionate about the type of tv they buy, whether it be LCD or plasma. And I agree that plasmas are great for a lot of people, just as LCDs are great for a lot of people too. I was just trying to offer more accurate information than I felt was being provided. I also wasn't trying to convince the OP that they shouldn't buy the Kuro. I merely offered some information and my opinion on what I would consider buying from what I know and have seen. By all means buy and enjoy the Kuro.
I've got the Kuro 50" and it's awesome. Super deep blacks and amazing detail (note - this is coming from a Samsung DLP HD). I was a little worried about burn-in also, but I downloaded the break-in images (solid color images) from AVS forum and ran them as a slideshow, changing every minute or so for a few nights. No problems at all. I still freak a bit if someone pauses the image for an extended period, but I think the whole "burn-in" thing is a bit overblown at this point.
I did hook up my MBP to it via DVI for a bit to play Call of Duty 4. It looked about as awesome as you'd expect. Just don't play for hours on end until you've passed the 150 burn-in period.
Hi there. Could you go into more detail about this breaking in thing? It's the first I've ever heard that term in regards to a new tv. How does it work? Why does it help?
