Down south
It is gorgeous! It's been a couple of months and I still haven't gotten over how awesome it is.

Good luck with your pencil!

I can’t wait! I have just recently gotten into doing a lot of digital planning/journaling, etc., and have been using my pencil a lot more. I’ve read some great reviews about the new one, and I’m super pumped about getting, and using, it.

As far as indecision, it might be best to buy one and just use it until the next upgrade. The grass is always greener, etc.
You have one, you miss the other.

That’s where I landed. I sometimes miss the 12.9” for sure. But it’s not a forever decision.. I can always sell and buy another size down the line.

I bought the 11”. Retuned it for the 12.9” with cellular and 256gb. I love this device. Best Apple product in years imho. Since AirPods at least. It has replaced my laptop. I use it with a Magic Keyboard. So good for work, Word, pdfs, editing movies, photos, watching movies. Never gets even warm rendering 4K video where my MBP sounded like an F-22. But...

It still a bit big for couch, bed, lounging consumption. For that the 11” was perfect. So, I know it’s insane but I’m going to get the 11” as well. I get so much use all day out of these things. I plan to travel with both. Will browse, surf, read on the 11” on a flight but switch to the bigger one for work and movies or photo or video editing.

For years I travelled with an MBP and an iPad. So I’m telling myself this is the same thing...

That’s exactly what I thought, so my MacBook is now up for sale and I’ll have two iPads instead.

Maybe 5-10 years down the line this is where foldable tech will come in to its own and we’ll have a single iPad which can fulfill both roles.

Reviving my old thread here. Picked up a 2nd gen 11 on sale and am trying the two Pro set up. I think I’ll try to use the 11 for media consumption/entertainment/leisure only and keep using the 12.9 for work stuff in lieu of carting around my work laptop. This gets me about 90% there for work and will help me separate work from fun. We shall see how it goes!

Was looking at getting an Air 4, but sales on the 2nd gen 11s are pretty compelling.

That's kind of how I use mine as well - 11" more for fun and 12.9" for work!!!

Oh, wow, interesting to see the resurgence of this thread and my comments from 2019!

I’m typing on the same 2018 IPP I was using back then, but I have to admit that I’m reconsidering the 12.9. The pandemic changed things, as like many people, I began working from home. Part of my reason for going with the 11 inch was that I was using a 13 MBP, and having an iPad almost exactly the same size felt redundant. However, I’m since upgraded to 27 iMac. (Yes, it’s Intel, and it’s going to be updated soon, but I love the machine I have, so no regrets!)

I’ve got three options. (1) Apple is offering $455 on a trade-in for a four-year old machine, which is a great deal, and I have a $200 Apple gift card to further offset the price, so I could get either the new 11 or 12.9. (2) I could keep my 11 inch and go for 12.9 refurb; Apple’s refurbished store is getting them in a lot lately, so it would be (relatively) inexpensive, but it would still be four year old tech. And (3), of course, let it go and wait until next year completely.

Fortunately, I’m not in a hurry either way, but I am looking forward to getting the chance to see the new models in person.

Have both sizes in M1. Got the 12.9 first, told myself it was time to go big because of the mini-led. 12.9 was nice to test this weekend as I had a trip out of state. It did well on the plane but boy did I miss the more compact size, so while here in Oregon I picked up the 11 inch tax free and I must say I think it’s a better fit for me. Might end up giving up the 12.9, save myself 300 bucks and taxes. Decisions decisions.
