Just for kicks, I went ahead and unplugged the internal bluetooth card on my 5,1. (Be gentle pulling the plug off the card) I left the OEM BT card and antenna in place and plugged in the iogear bluetooth USB adapter. (IOGEAR IOGBU521 Bluetooth 4.0 USB Micro Adapter)

Upon reboot, my BT keyboard, trackpad and magic mouse reconnected without issue. Pretty good!
Might investigate the continuity activation tool.

Let's see if it fixes the notorious battery drain issue with the Magic Mouse on my Mac.
Edit: It seems to fix one annoyance: occasionally the Magic Mouse will disconnect with the original card if I physically disturb the mouse violently (almost as if the battery has shifted causing a disconnection) but the iogear adapter seems solid. Nice!

Hi guys,

I have finally got round to installing the iogear adapter and am having issues.

If i reboot the machine the devices don't reconnect themselves until I have logged back in to the desktop, is there any way round this?

I am using the old bluetooth keyboard and original trackpad currently.

It all feels quit laggy, I have the iogear adapter plugged into the front of the Mac Pro currently.

When I am logged in I can connect to the trackpad and keyboard ok, but the trackpad won't scroll?? the keyboard works fine.

Thanks of any help

Is the internal Bluetooth card still connected? I had to disable mine by unplugging power to internal card. The dongle now connects properly on startup.

Thanks for the reply,

I unplugged the black ribbon that comes off the motherboard to the card, I think that's it all isn't it?

Yep, that's it. The dongles been working well, but didn't fix the Magic Mouse battery drain issue--But fixed sleeping issues with my Mac Pro.
