Not sure if related but Garage Band will not update. After downloading it always starts to install but won't finish and starts to download again.

Edit. It finally updated after numerous attempts.

I can not finish the part where you download it its been a hour and the bar has not moved
Exactly what I've been getting too and I've given up for the night there is something wrong with the Apple servers but when I called Apple Care they said all was well with the servers. I'm on a Dec 2013 McBood Air they act as if it's ancient but I have been keeping it updated and it was running fine until the last update when suddenly the battery won't keep a charge so I wonder if it was that last update becuse nothing else changed. I'm done with this latest update for now not trying any more until they get it fixed if there's something wrong which seems likely.

Start comp in safe mode (shut down. wait min 10 secs. Boot with shift down and then update. different models safe mode procedure may vary. This for MBP 2019). Worked for me.

I have a MPB 13-inch early 2015 running BS 11.2.3. No problems. I have tried twice to update to 11.3 from system preferences. Both attempts failed after starting the download, but I wasn’t watching the screen so don’t know if there were any messages. (Download was still running when I last checked after more than two hours each time.)

Before the second attempt I got an Apple message requesting that I enter my admin password (was logged in as admin) to authorize system preferences (or something like that ) but didn’t capture the message. It allowed the update to start again so I assume that was OK.

Have started to download from the App Store, but notice that the size of the download is more than twice as big (roughly 12 GB compared to 6GB). Is this normal? Why?

Is there anything else I should know about installing from the App Store?

I'm trying to update my 21.5 iMac to MacOS Big Sur 11.3 I do see the update pop up in system preferences and click on update and it starts downloading and its on 10 minutes left and its kind of been sitting there for a while I know sometime it take a while for to go.
I have been trying this since the date of the update MacOS Big Sur 11.3 on my iMac. No results so far. Download completes, installation is prepared and then, out of the blue, an error message. Apple is going to be a lookalike of Microsoft, it's getting too big ...

Same problem but I get past the download and then get a failed message due to possible poor internet connection. Tried several times. As with other responses, I think I’ll just bypass this upgrade and wait for the next one. This one has to be buggy.

Humm, my 2015 MacBook Pro Has been stuck on 10 minutes remaining preparing 11.3.1 for the past 2.5 hours. Three other Macs updated to 11.3.1 without issues. Update - after 4 hours aborted and started over, now again hung at the same 10 minutes - guess this computer will not be updated to 11.3.1 - looks like Apple has a problem with update failures again.

Skip THIS update ... when I updated to 11.4 ... my experience was that it rebooted as a BRAND NEW MAC ... wiped out my login account, my wife's login account ... asking me how would you like to set this new Mac up ? Time Machine, Data Migration Assistant, or use as new Mac. I can't tell you how upset I was with 2 weeks worth of heavy customizations !
sorry but... uh U DIRTY LIAR 11.4 HASNT COME OUT YET

It's a bit of a leap to call "Liar" when 11.4 is available, in second release as a beta.
11.4 beta was first released 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Agreed. These are all available for download

Not an iMac but I have 2 MBP 15" running 11.2.3. I'm being pushed to upgrade both to 11.3.1 by our corporate compliance team. My 2015 model seems to be updating fine but my newer 2018 model fails like those above. Click Upgrade Now and after a minute or 2 it craps out Screenshot 2021-05-12 at 10.14.18.png (my internet is fine with 200Mb fibre broadband).
Go to App Store and click Get for Big Sur it downloads all 12GB+ fine but then when running says it's damaged. Screenshot 2021-05-12 at 10.46.58.png

Tried several time now and it's consistent. Getting thoroughly p'ed off.

Try using MDS from TwoCanoes as mentioned above.

Select Download macOS, and choose MacOS Big Sur 11.3.1 from the Production Catalog.
It downloads the software then assembles it into a disk image. You then open the diskimage and copy the installer, then run it.

I have never had any problems with it.

Download the Big Sur installer.
Use that to create a bootable installer -- works great from a 16GB thumb drive.
Apple has steps available to help you with that process, or you can use an app that is designed to create macOS installers, such as Install Disk Creator
Boot to your bootable installer. Reinstall macOS...
That will help prevent issues caused by problems on the system that you usually boot from, and you should have a better result by using that method.

I ran Disc Utility. This error popped up when I did the first aid on the Data. It seems to run fine. I haven't noticed any loss of data. Should I be concerned? How can I fix this?
