While I’m a fan of some colors, I know for sure I won’t get a green phone no matter what shade is in, just not feeling the color.
I ordered the purple PM because purple!! It is beautiful but agonizing over cases to go with it is hard. I want to see the purple, but I don’t like clear MagSafe cases because the magnet is ugly AF in my eyes. On my 12P I did a rhino shield bumper (no backplate) and will likely do the same. I want to see the purple but also not have the bumper be all clashy clashy.
Before my 12P my iPhones were always silver/white and I loved the white back .. starting back at the 3GS all the way to XS Max. The 12 I went darker, and this round I couldn’t resist the lure of purple. But part of me thinks cases would be easier on the silver. Lol.

Can you shed a bit more light on this? Is it the back that is less shiny? And by less shiny do you mean less white and more gold? Cheers.
Well, the phone slid off my lap in the car and fell under the seat. It has a tiny chip off the stainless steel on the outside as a result. You don't really see it but I don't think I can return this one anymore, unless they don't pay that much attention during the return process. Purple it is I guess...
I must admit though, the more time I spend with the purple, the more it's growing on me.

Damn, I guess you didn’t have a case on it? Purple isn’t so bad, I was hoping it was slightly Lighter so it doesn’t look black or grey in certain lighting conditions
I've actually grown to enjoy how it sometimes absorbs light and gets really dark, and other times reflects a really nice full purple. My buyer's remorse is gone.
I think part of it was getting used to not having a bright reflective phone.
I always go caseless + Apple Care. But I've been pretty lucky - my 13 Pro Max that I used for a year is pristine. Never damaged a phone. This chip is pretty minor - you wouldn't even see it in a photo unless you got the lighting juuust right.
It’s good your buyers remorse is gone. I was used to seeing the Sierra blue which was lighter
I would love to go caseless as well but annoy me if I got one scratch. Glad to hear ur scratch on the 14 is only minor. After a while, u will forget it’s there.
Got the black… it’s in UPS purgatory until Monday, but I am not sure if I would rather have the purple. I’m sure I won’t have remorse large enough to go through an exchange though.
I went space black this year as I was excited for the darker sides and always go caseless. I love it but man the finger prints are worse than any color I’ve ever had. The stainless steel bands look significantly worse than my space Grey 13P. I have to swap this one out for a screen issue so I’m considering switching colors.
Wife’s purple is awesome and doesn’t finger print nearly as bad as mine but I’m just not sure I want a purple phone.

Bought deep purple but then realized the colour doesn’t really matter as I’ve stuck it inside a storm blue case 😂😂😂
Here's how my new phone looks outside at 2 in the afternoon. Very glad I chose Silver + Lilac Silicone Case over naked Deep Purple. This is still more blueish of a purple than I like, though it looks more reddish with indoor lighting, and I think it's a much nicer shade of purple than Deep Purple. I think the white camera bump looks the best with this particular case.
I should add too that the Silver edges are not distracting/obnoxious like I was worried they might be, at least to me. It has taught me though that I like Apple's aluminum style over their stainless steel so I'm glad I got the Silver Aluminum Apple Watch even though it then can't match the phone.

I really couldn’t decide between purple and space black. I’ve had silver for the past 3 years and love it, but fancied a change. After pre ordering both, purple got return the next day. In some lights it looked great, but others it was just meh, and the band was a bit too pink for me. So space black it is for me and a nice change from silver, liking the less in your face look of the cameras.
For me, the ultimate would be a silver band with black back, but doubt that’ll ever happen.

I’m feeling the same. Even a clear case would mute the beauty!!! I want to just do a MagSafe wallet but not sure which color would look best.
I’m feeling that struggle for sure. The only clear case I might consider is a super thin one. I might just use a screen protector and get AppleCare plus.
I went for space black which I am happy with. Must admit when I actually saw the purple in store it looked sleek and different and I thought about switching but didn’t. Wasn’t sure what it would look like in all lights. I didn’t like the black band around the edges of the phone on the floor model which had been manhandled making it look more like a matte plastic and wished it were silver. But out of the box black looked great and with a clear case it looks more silver/dark grey. Sticking with the black.
I wish they would do a deeper purple. Think Baltimore Ravens purple jersey color.
